THE POSITION

Wayne County Area Agency on Aging is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to serve in the capacity of Aging Case Aide 2 to work with our valued 60 population. This is a rewarding position for a patient, compassionate, and organized individual who would enjoy assisting senior citizens with securing resources for a more productive, safe, and happy life while maintaining as much independence as possible. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As an Aging Case Aide 2, you will be responsible for scheduling appointments and meeting with walk-ins on a daily basis to provide general guidance on health insurance and completion of various assistance applications. Additional duties may include scheduling sessions with homebound clients as necessary, providing outreach services, and encouraging participation at senior centers to maximize use of activities and services. You may be tasked with resolving complaints and conflicts from seniors attending the center, working with volunteers in serving communal lunch and post-meal clean-up, and assisting in serving meals at the drive-thru station.
You will have the exciting opportunity to use your creativity to shop for door prizes and theme decorations and prepare prizes for holiday events. This professional also oversees solicitation of annual picnic donations, including sending out letters. You will collect donations for center meals and services while maintaining a daily ledger of receipts. Friendly and enthusiastic interpersonal skills are vital while conducting activities at the center which will include arts and crafts, bingo, general exercises, and more. You will also tend to the preparation and clean-up of snacks for meetings and activities as needed.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Part-time employment, 15-20 hours per week.
Work hours will vary between 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
One year as an Aging Case Aide 1; or
Two years of public contact work, including one year in a human services program; or
Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Lackawanna, Monroe, Pike, Susquehanna, or Wayne counties. If no eligible candidates who live within these counties apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
You must be able to perform essential job functions.

You must pass a background investigation.
A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
