Process Automation Engineer

The Process Automation Engineer is responsible for monitoring the efficiency and optimal performance of plant’s tools and equipment. Use analytical and statistical skills to analyze operational processes and recommends improvements to maximize production and repeatability to equipment and machinery, including network configuration.

Essential Functions

Hands-on troubleshooting of industrial process, systems and controls to improve safety, quality, efficiency or error proofing.

Prepare, install, and improve the use of automation, controls and programming. This includes PLC/HMI/Robot programming along with writing scripts for Windows-based software (Access, Excel, SQL).

Responsibility for HMIs, PLCs, and motion control systems. Platforms include FANUC, Proficy iFIX, Rockwell (ControlLogix, FactoryTalk) and Schneider Electric (Modicon). Responsible for Ethernet/IP and Modbus and Communication networks

Coordinate Industrial Information Technology/ IIOT support of plant computers and networks that exist on the production floor; this includes administering Windows-based machines and setting up devices on an Ethernet-based plant network

Lead teams to prepare, install and improve the use of automation, controls and programming. This includes PLC/HMI/Robot programming along with writing scripts for Windows-based software (Access, Excel, SQL) .

Education

Bachelors in Electrical and Control Engineering – required

Licenses and Certifications

Technical certification in controls logic – required

Work Experience

5 years – Must also have an in-depth, hands-on experience in industrial controls engineering practices, trends, and procedures – preferred

5 years – Hands on experience with HMIs, PLCs, motion control, Rockwell (Control Logix, Factory Talk), Ethernet/IP and Modbus communication networks – preferred
