Lead the Process Operations for the Claremont, NC. facility. This position will be responsible for directing the activities of 6 hourly Process Technicians, as well as the Die and Tooling Room with 6 hourly employees. Focus is on process control, recipe design and management, Tooling use, wear tracking and annual capex outlay, as well training in the area of upset condition prevention. This position will also be responsible to interface with Production, Quality and Maintenance departments to ensure support for materials and tooling trials, repair conditions associated with process and daily SQDC reviews. Also responsible for statistically defining the variation in our existing manufacturing processes and developing systems to reduce the variation so our processes are statistically capable (3 Cpk), standardized and well documented. Always support a safe working environment in area of responsibility. Correct or report unsafe acts or conditions through appropriate channels of resolution.

Essential Functions

Supervision – 60%

Manage the Process Technicians within the Quality Process Department:

Supervising department personnel (6-Process Technicians, 6-Die and Tooling employees), scheduling resources and budget development and adherence.

Process Development – 30%

Investigate new processes, technologies and equipment to ensure that CertainTeed is utilizing the most effective tools available to meet and exceed their manufacturing goals.

Use proven SPC/SQC tools to determine and minimize process variation, while improving productivity.

Process equipment consumables acquisition and inventory management

Training – 10%

Root cause analysis efforts to drive continuous improvement.

Determine where and how the process failed, define corrective actions, and complete action items to improve process capability

Participate in SPG Interplant Teams related to process improvement

Process & Material Trial; resource scheduling and execution with DTO Process Technicians

Education

B.S in Process Engineering, Quality Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering – preferred

Licences and Certifications

Up to date ASQ CQE – preferred

Experience

8-10 years of Extrusion Industry especially in Process Control and Tooling management, Statistical Process Analysis and Management skills – preferred

This position supports a 7 day/week, 24 hour/day manufacturing operation.

Typical plant working conditions: fast-paced environment, seasonal temperatures, noise levels, dust, and moving machinery.
