Washington County BCC

The Washington County Board of County Commissioners is currently accepting applications for a BUILDING OFFICIAL position. This position, under limited supervision, performs responsible technical and administrative work inspecting buildings in the County. Work involves reviewing building plans to determine compliance to such building codes as adopted and set forth by County ordinance and performing all technical inspections as required. Employee issues building, plumbing, electrical and mechanical permits and collects appropriate fees. Employee is also responsible for enforcing zoning, flood plain, and substandard housing regulations.

Minimum Training and Experience:

– Must possess a High School Diploma and 3 to 5 years of experience in residential and/or commercial building, mechanical or plumbing construction or inspections work; or any combination of training or experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
– Must possess a valid certificate as Building Code Administrator/Building Official from the Department of Business and and Professional Regulation, in accordance with the requirements of Florida Statues Chapter 468.
– Must possess a valid Florida Drivers License

Certification by the Code Officials Division of the Florida Department of Professional Regulations in each of the following, preferred, but not required:
1. Building Official Inspection
2. Plans Examiner Inspection
3. Electrical Inspection
4. Mechanical Inspection
