Job Description Summary

This role plays a significant part in the Planning and Monitoring/Controlling Process Groups within Project Management. The Project Analyst will work with engineering project teams to manage projects: metrics, earned value, cost, schedule, subcontracts, and materials through the project life cycle. In this role, you will proactively analyze project data and work directly with the project manager and project teams to address variances and properly report and manage project data and metrics.

Roles and Responsibilities

Deliver on a Project Management Cadence that includes Cost Tracking, Schedule Management, Earned Value Management, Variance Analysis, Change Management, Forecasting, Demand Profiles, and other project deliverables, related to reporting and Integrated Product Team meetings.​

Ensure project implementation as well as work packages and constraints are accurately integrated into project planning scenario. Responsible for monitoring progress and producing accurate projections. Ensure other functions have access to accurate current reports and projections and relevant reports are available for the customer.

Collect earned value and forecast data from project teams, and in turn help them understand the status of their projects relative to the project baseline and fiscal year constraints

A basic understanding of key business drivers, especially Earned Value Management, and use this understanding to recommend project actions to the Project Manager and other supporting team members. Good understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area (Engineering, Finance, Sales, PMO).

Will have autonomy to make informed suggestions to the Engineering teams regarding project execution. May provide guidance in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures. Consults more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.

Will participate in Director and Executive level meetings that address Project Health and may help the Project Manager deliver the projects message to leadership.

Supports Earned Value process governance/audits and ensures compliance with standard project management principals

Participates in the development of training content to support stakeholder execution of engineering NPI programs

A job at this level requires good interpersonal skills. Develop strong internal customer relationships and serve as the interface between the project team and the business. Explain programmatic variables to others.

Required Qualifications

Bachelors degree from an accredited university or college with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Project Management & Project Planning.

High school diploma / GED with at least 6 years of experience in Project Management & Project Planning.

Experience in applying Earned Value Management principles to projects.

Experience building, updating, and leading schedules and their reviews.

Desired Characteristics

Preferred platform for scheduling experience, MS Project, with the ability to adapt to other scheduling tools like Deltek Open Plan.

Understands change management regarding updates to Budget, Authorized Spend, Forecast, and the mechanisms to channel baseline change requests.

Knows how to interpret Project Dashboards regarding Financials, Variances, Indexes, and Resource Supply and Demand, including skill set requirements.

An experienced level of knowledge in Excel for Pivot Tables and other formatting constants is needed, as well as established experience in Word for possible Customer documents submittals, and Power Point for presentations to upper management.

PMP Certification or some formal training on the PMBOK guidelines.

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
