Across our portfolio of live event venues and corporate offices, we are looking for a Receptionist at the Broward County Convention Center. The Receptionist is the first point of contact for visitors, exhibitors, and event attendees. This role provides exceptional customer service, supports administrative tasks, and ensures efficient communication between guests and internal teams. The Receptionist plays a key role in maintaining a welcoming environment and supporting the smooth operation of events at the venue.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Welcome and greet visitors, exhibitors, and clients with a professional and friendly demeanor.
Provide information about the convention center, ongoing events, and venue services.
Answer and direct phone calls and inquiries to appropriate departments.
Handle incoming and outgoing mail, deliveries, and packages.
Maintain a clean and organized reception area, ensuring materials such as brochures and schedules are available to guests.
Perform clerical duties such as data entry, filing, and managing event-related documentation.
Assist with administrative tasks for special events, and VIP handling.
Respond promptly to guest complaints or issues and escalate to appropriate staff, as necessary.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the event calendar and provide accurate directions and information to guests.
Implement the Broward County Convention Center Experience Program to ensure a high level of guest satisfaction.
Other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications or education in hospitality or office administration is preferred.
Experience as a receptionist, guest services associate, or in a similar customer service role.
Skills and Abilities
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Strong multitasking and time-management abilities, especially in a fast-paced environment.
Professional appearance and demeanor.
Friendly and customer-oriented with a focus on delivering exceptional service.
Proven ability to exercise good judgement and initiative.
Openness to learning, growing, and following direction.
Proficiency in Spanish or Creole languages is highly valued.
Computer Skills
Operate and be proficient utilizing standard office equipment and personal computer(s) using Outlook, MS Windows, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and TEAMS.
