As a Field Tech, you’ll join a collaborative team to investigate and restore quality water to customers throughout the city of Jackson, MS. You’ll have the opportunity to perform a variety of tasks including fire hydrant operation/flushing, sampling, testing and analysis of water related standards. You’ll also be cross-trained with our laboratory staff to perform chemical, biochemical, and bacteriological tests using laboratory equipment and materials to evaluate quality and develop solutions to complex challenges that may arise in the municipal facilities. You’ll perform investigation of system water issues, respond to customer water quality complaints, maintain & prepare records/ reports and operate laboratory equipment and materials. Most importantly, you’ll take action to ensure the safety, health and well-being of your team.

High School Diploma or GED
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and data management systems.
A valid state driver’s license
Ideally, You’ll Also Have:
Ability to operate hydrant valves, perform system flushing, and perform other physical system maintenance duties as required
Willingness to be out in the field under various conditions
Basic knowledge of the concepts of chemistry, biology, and related experiences; procedures and materials used in chemical, biochemical, and bacteriological testing; laboratory safety and equipment and material care and maintenance
Knowledge of the concepts and methods of potable treatment system testing, effects and impact of changes in the water chemistry and treatment processes

Additional demands may involve a specific level of dexterity, grip strength, climbing and cardiorespiratory demands. The work areas may be indoor, outdoor, have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, air borne particles, noxious gases, and chemicals. The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.
