Job Summary
Photographs assignments commissioned to Photo Services including portraits, outside assignments, and special events. Utilize digital imaging technology to edit, retouch, and finalize image processing. Assist with front-desk operations when directed.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Capture high-quality images for portraits, group photos, and special events by operating a full range of cameras and lenses; utilize specialized studio and portable lighting, as well as other advanced photography equipment as needed for creative and professional results.
Produce digital content for social media platforms, websites, and other media. Responsible for archiving, creating, manipulating and printing digital images using appropriate imaging software and hardware.
Assists with the maintenance of the University ID Card system, including photography, printing, and distribution of ID cards in accordance with University policies.
Collaborates with fellow Staff Photographer(s) to coordinate and schedule all booked photo assignments while ensuring coverage of major University events through on-spec shoots.
Regularly covers morning, evening, weekend, and holiday bookings, including occasional travel to the Gulf Park campus and elsewhere in the region to shoot both University and external events.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in photography/photojournalism, communications or related field; or three to five years of photographic experience in all phases of photography; or a combination of education and experience. Available to work holidays, evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to deliver excellent customer service at all times with a high degree of professionalism, whether on a photo shoot or covering functions at the front-desk.
Knowledge of DSLR camera and flashes.
Experience with studio strobes and light controlling equipment and photo editing using Adobe Creative Suite with a high level of proficiency in creating compelling images.
Ability to think creatively while working under deadlines and handling multiple projects on an ongoing basis.
Ability to work independently without close supervision.
Candidates must have the ability to work flexible hours in order to cover morning, evening, weekend, and holiday events as necessary.
Ability to evaluate situations and make good decisions.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to multi-task with attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong interpersonal skills to engage effectively with a diverse range of individuals.
Experience photographing large events, groups, and VIP’s.
