The Chemistry Supervisor in our lab is a key role in providing the highest quality of patient care while the patient is at Union Health. The Laboratory Supervisor oversees specimen testing, ensuring adherence to policies and accurate results through automated and manual methods. Responsibilities include specimen preparation, quality control, equipment maintenance, and troubleshooting. This role also involves staff training, regulatory compliance, maintaining documentation, and managing inventory to support efficient lab operations.

Laboratory Supervisor Services Details
Essential Job Duties:
Oversee Laboratory Testing and Compliance: Ensure accurate testing of specimens and adherence to lab policies, supporting regulatory and accreditation requirements.
Manage Quality Control and Equipment: Perform quality assurance tasks, maintain lab instruments, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate vendor support as needed.
Specimen Preparation and Collection: Prepare, process, and collect specimens for in-house and external testing, ensuring proper handling and patient safety.
Inventory and Supply Management: Maintain adequate inventory to support uninterrupted lab operations, including ordering and tracking supplies.
Staff Training and Supervision: Train and guide lab staff, ensuring compliance with procedures and promoting a high standard of lab practices.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3-5 years of laboratory experience, with at least one year in a supervisory or lead role.
Proficiency in laboratory procedures, equipment maintenance, and quality control; experience with both automated and manual testing methods.
Familiarity with laboratory accreditation standards (e.g., CLIA, CAP, or COLA) and compliance requirements.
Strong supervisory skills, with the ability to train and support staff, manage workflows, and communicate effectively with team members and management.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field.
Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), Medical Technologist (MT), or equivalent certification preferred.
