Psychologist HSPP Details
Essential Job Duties:
Provides psychological services to inpatients, as well as their families, as ordered by the patients attending physician if the patient is hospitalized.
Responsible for consultation and liaison services to all acute medical areas of the hospital.
Demonstrates the highest level of compliance with the American Psychological Associations (APA) ethical standards and relevant Indiana Statutes.
Shows an understanding of the principles of growth and development over the lifespan and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patients status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patients requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs.
Continuously update their knowledge and skill base relevant to medical and psychosocial issues of the populations they service (e.g. oncology, cardiac, etc.).
Strive to communicate well throughout all facets of work and provide assistance, guidance, and direction in implementing hospital-based services for patients and their families who participate in any and all of the hospital services lines.
Conducts and completes an intake evaluation, develops and implements a treatment plan and provides therapy using appropriate evidence-based therapies to assist the patient to achieve their goals.
Works collaboratively the LCSW/LMHC.
Qualifications:
Requires three to five years’ experience in the provision of mental health services to populations varied in age, presenting problem, setting, and socioeconomic status.
Experience with hospital based mental health services, especially consultation and liaison is necessary.
Must have a working familiarity with the working of a hospital, the basic foundations and practices of behavioral medicine and a working understanding of the psychosocial and emotional correlates of rehabilitation, cancer, heart disease, diabetes, stroke and other medical issues as necessary.
License/Certification:
Expected to hold a PhD. Or Psy.D. in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an accredited University with completion of an appropriate internship experience.
Expected to hold a valid license in the State of Indiana and preferably Illinois as well.
