This position is for a Training Technician (Assembly) within the Large Power Systems Division located in our Lafayette, IN facility. This position will provide a positive training experience and support a base foundation for new assemblers. Training position will be located in Building A East training room. (classroom setting). Provides overall training and development needs of the facility and/or division. Needs are based on corporate, facility, and departmental goals for all shifts. Responsibilities may be changed over time.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Facilitates verbal, visual, and hands-on training, for new employees, in a classroom setting.
Conducts training assessments to ensure new employee knowledge retention
Supports training team with routine curriculum assessments. This may include updating coursework and job aids to satisfy improvement opportunities in the learning process.
Monitors verbal, hands-on, and knowledge-based needs of employees.
Must be able to work independently as well as in a team setting.
The candidate may need to fill-in for other training staff and determine the optimal way to complete job assignments and achieve desired results.
This position works with supervisors, technicians and other support groups on updating content of training materials.
Successful candidates can demonstrate a working knowledge which would include computer literacy and use of excel and power point software.
The candidate must have good written and oral communication skills.
Competence in interpretation of the relevant standard work documentation and engineering drawings is a plus
Willingness to accept change and have a positive forward-thinking approach
Basic Assembly Training (BAT) is a requirement prior to starting this position.
Note 1: The successful candidate will have to stay in this position for a minimum of 1 year apart from receiving a promotion.
Note 2: Candidate must stay in position for 6 months to receive credit for Quality experience on job bids.
Basic Qualifications:
Strong computer literate and have prior knowledge of spreadsheet software.
Must have good written and oral communication, interpersonal skills, and will need to make frequent updates to management.
Problem solving skills and understanding of the problem-solving techniques involved are required.
Must have the willingness and ability to constructively work with various departments.
Willingness to accept change and have a positive approach to customer service.
Must be willing to work overtime as needed to meet goals and objectives.
Physical Requirements:
Candidates for all positions must have the ability to work in a fast pace, medium to heavy duty assembly, technical environment.
Work may involve frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling, twisting, turning, climbing, and standing on concrete for 8 hours.
All positions also require the ability to lift 40 pounds and withstand frequent repetitive movement of hands with a variety of tooling.
Must be able to work in heights and confirmed spaces.

Shift hours: 1st (6:30am-2:30pm)
