Summary
Primary responsibility is the supervision of Equipment Technicians in a mechanical work environment; plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures, and recommends improvements in repair methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions. Supervises the activities of the equipment technicians under the direction of the management and follows established procedures and approved processes. Overall responsibility for directing the repair of various types of equipment. Plans, schedules, and coordinates activities to fulfill customer orders and deliver repaired equipment in a timely fashion.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Works directly with manager, customer, and direct reports or others to provide equipment installed to Custom Truck and customer standards.
Proficient in the installation of equipment.
Knowledge of various mechanical installations
Supervision, including, performance review and discipline.
Employee training and development.
Manages department priorities.
Problem analysis and resolution.
Responds effectively to questions and inquiries concerning assembly
Utilizes knowledge of various machines, mathematics, building materials, and other physical sciences to complete assembly.
Must be able to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
Balance’s quality, productivity, costs, safety, and morale to achieve positive results in all areas.
Works to continuously improve in all areas.
Manages departmental performance including visual controls and provides regular progress reports to manager.
This position requires that the person be a highly organized, self-motivated individual who can work independently.
Must have strong leadership skills, with excellent oral and written communication skills.
Must be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situations.
Must be extremely organized.
Coaches, counsels, and supervises the performance of direct reports.
Enforces sound safety and housekeeping practices.
Able to work with minimum supervision and capable of self-checking for completeness and accuracy of work produced.
Communicates with all parties regarding new work and work in progress.
Refers to MSDS when using any chemicals, substances, and materials, and understanding the MSDS information, and abiding by MSDS required personal protective equipment and making sure each direct report has proper PPE for all tasks requiring their use.
Understands and follows federal, state, and local regulations such as those governing the disposal of hazardous wastes.
Disposes of used oil, grease, antifreeze, and filters in the assigned location to ensure EPA compliance.
Attends Custom Truck safety training and follows all safety requirements.
Must work with all departments in harmony.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires broad technical and supervisory experience in an assembly and welding environment.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to verbally relate routine reports, operating instructions and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively one-on-one, before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamental arithmetic. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Three years of progressive equipment repair experience in a similar work environment. Demonstrated mechanical and repair abilities. Ability to manage multiple complicated priorities and tasks.
Exhibits strong judgment and decision-making skills. Computer literate. Ability to interface with all types of mechanical employees. Must have personal initiative. Will work independently. Must possess a strong desire to learn.
