Job Title: Unit Technician Job Classification: Non-Exempt Supervisor: Lead SUD Counselor Location: Virginia, MN Payband: 1 Benefits: Including but not limited to: Medical, Dental, Life, 401k, PTO Job Summary: The Unit Technician provides direct service to ensure safety and comfort for clients within our residential substance use disorders programs, as well as administrative tasks to ensure effective, therapeutic and compliant program operations. Essential Functions: Answer the phones and relay calls and messages to the appropriate person Assist with the admit and discharge of the people we serve including orientation of new admits Perform the necessary physical plant maintenance which includes (but is not limited to) the cleaning of hallways, rooms, lounges, utility rooms, showers, bathrooms, and making of beds Orientate the people we serve Complete clinical documentation in the electronic health record (CREDIBLE) Complete admission / discharge DAANES data collection and data entry Transport the people we serve to and from activities, appointments, court appearances, etc Facilitate program activities and groups as assigned Assist the nurse in providing hygiene care for the people we serve Administer medications (must pass the formalized training program taught by a RN or licensed prescriber and be determined staff persons areas of competency) Wash clothes for the people we serve as needed Pick up meals on weekends and when the kitchen is closed from Edgewood Vista Monitor clients and regularly walk through the unit; provide necessary direction or appropriate intervention to maintain a safe and compliant environment Assist clients with homework as assigned by counseling staff Perform room searches and confiscate contraband or unapproved items Assist the Charge Nurse in performing drug screens Search luggage, bags, clothing, and packages; document belongings; confiscate contraband and report it to the appropriate authorities if necessary Check in and monitor visitors; search visitor clothing and deny entry of inappropriate or unapproved items Follow the list of assigned job duties list for the shift being worked Take direction for assigned tasks from Charge Nurse and Supervisors. Attend staff meetings and trainings as assigned. Knowledge and understanding of all policies and procedures of each assigned worksite and seek answers to questions via communication with direct supervisor or other representative of RMHC in authority. Follow all regulatory and statutory guidelines and requirements, and all RMHC policies and procedures. Other duties as assigned. Ability to attend to non-verbal cues Ability to organize and prioritize tasks with sufficient flexibility to meet demands in a fluid and changing environment Ability to maintain the confidentiality of interaction with the people we serve in the treatment setting and other relevant confidential information Ability to handle sensitive situations in a calm, respectful manner Ability to operate accurately a computer, keyboard, and mouse Ability to handle significant daily stress Ability to effectively both verbally and in writing Ability to read, write, and speak the English language Minimum Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years of age High School Diploma or equivalency preferred A philosophical approach consistent with Range Mental Health Center s mission Pass a Department of Human Services background check Meet minimum training requirements of training under the Minnesota Department of Human Services and the Minnesota Department of Health One year free from substance use problems CPR / First Aid certification required; certification can be provided by RMHC Current Minnesota driver s license Physical Requirements: Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time Ability to climb stairs Ability to operate a keyboard and mouse Ability to lift 50 pounds Sufficient vision to utilize a com uter monitor, to inspect and monitor the physical outlay or each program, to monitor client s behavior and / or body language, and to inspect luggage, clothing, or packages Sufficient hearing acuity to accurately record or respond to another party both in person, on the phone, and in a group setting Maintain an acceptable level of cleanliness and physical appearance Ability to verbally communicate English in a manner that is sufficiently clear to be easily understood
