Truck Driver & Equipment Operator Columbia Falls, MontanaF.H. Stoltze Land & Lumber Company is seeking an experienced truck driver and equipment operator to join our resource team in Columbia Falls, MT. The Truck Driver & Equipment Operator position is a full-time hourly position. Schedule is 4 10hr shifts Monday -Thursday or Tuesday – Friday5:30AM – 3:30PM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:Must be 18 years or older with a valid Class A CDL license Basic mechanical and operator skills required. Previous trucking & logging equipment experience preferred, with a knowledge of trucking & logging operations. Mechanical skills and the ability to operate a chain saw preferred. Must be safety and team oriented and willing to complete professional logger training. Must be able to pass pre-employment DOT drug screen and job physical. JOB SUMMARY:Under the supervision of the Resource Manager, Logging Foreman, Log Yard Lead, and Foresters, the Truck Driver & Equipment Operator efficiently hauls logging equipment and biomass. This position also may operate skidder, bulldozer, processor, loader, feller buncher, lowboy, grinder, and other duties as necessary. This position works closely with other equipment operators to successfully and safely conduct trucking, grinding, and harvest operations as directed by management.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:1.Hauls equipment to jobsite.2.Hauls biomass to cogeneration facility.3.Falls timber and places in trail for efficient skidding4.Skids trees – drags from stump to road or landing.5.Pulls winch line and sets chokers.6.Process trees into logs.7.Sort different products; sawlogs, pulp, firewood, post/pole, etc.8.Decks logs.9.Coordinates with and loads trucks.10.Cleans landings.11.Piles brush.12.Loads brush into grinder and safely grinds biomass into trucks.13.Performs maintenance tasks including but not limited to washing, fueling, greasing, changing oil, and replacing hydraulic hoses.14.Sharpens chains and replaces cutting/grinding teeth.15.Attaches or removes equipment modifications; brush rake, grousers, chains, etc.16.Plows snow in winter.17.Re-shape roads.18.Installs erosion bars.19.Transport fuel and parts. INFREQUENT/MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS:1.Operates chain saws.2.Operates lowboy to haul equipment.3.Scarifies harvest units.4.Changes flat tires.5.Burns slash and fights forest fires. 6.Performs other duties as required.
