MAIN FUNCTION:
Reports to the MRI Supervisor. Under general supervision, performs all MRI procedures.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Prepares and positions patients for MRI procedures observing specific requirements for each procedure while maintaining patient comfort and safety.
2. Selects the best method to provide the most adequate data acquisition for any anatomical part.
3. Prepares opaque media for various procedures.
4. Injects contrast media as required for patient procedures.
5. Performs sterile technique as needed and maintains universal precautions as required.
6. Maintains the general appearance and hygiene in the work area.
7. Processes the film as needed.
8. Employs safety practices as needed in the area of strong magnetic fields.
9. Is responsible for attending all annual mandatory educational programs as required by position.
10. Provides age appropriate care to neonate, infant, children, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
11. EDUCATION:
ARRT certified in Radiologic Technology required
NYS license in Radiologic Technology preferred.
MRI certification required within one year of date of hire.
NYS license to inject contrast media required within six months of being hired.
EXPERIENCE:
At least one year of radiologic technologist experience. One year MRI experience preferred.
CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION (CPR) REQUIREMENTS:
Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire date.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Some physical effort required. Light objects lifted and some reaching and stooping.
EXPOSURE CATEGORY:
Category I. Tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.
