UPMC Western Behavioral Health at Mon Yough is hiring a full-time Direct Support Professional – Vocational to support their senior clients in McKeesport, PA.
The Direct Support Professional is primarily responsible for skills training, development and implementation of both facility and community-based program activities. Activities are intended to expand skills and integrate consumers into their community, according to their needs and interests, including competitive integrated employment.
The shift for this position is Monday – Friday 8:00 am to 3:30 pm. The incumbent will be responsible for assisting clients with ADLs. The incumbent will also be responsible for helping to foster independence and life skill retention.
Responsibilities:
Provide transportation for consumers as required utilizing agency vehicles.
Must have mobility and flexibility (such as running, bending, climbing stairs, and lifting based on program requirements etc.) as to ensure safety and wellbeing of individuals served and of self.
Plan, participate in, and conduct customized individual, small group or employment activities and instruction, which serve to maximize each individuals potential, as well as providing the tools necessary to make good choices and develop appropriate skills to foster independence as they grow and develop within their community. This includes paid work activities/training that require staff assistance.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all MYCS consumers, families, and customers, striving to exceed their expectations for service, quality, and individuality.
Responsible for providing consumers with individualized care based on the ISP and their individual needs.
Responsible for carrying out the ISP and all assigned paperwork accurately and in accordance with all agency, county, and state regulations.
Participate in approved annual trainings as specified by county/state regulations and MYCS policy.
Demonstrates proper judgment and decision-making skills when relating to consumers, their families and team members as specified by program/agency policies.
Education/Certifications: High School diploma or GED required.
Experience: One (1) year experience working with individuals with disabilities.
Driving: Must be 21 years of age or older with a valid PA drivers license and meet the guidelines to be accepted on the agencys vehicle insurance policy. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC)
Drivers License
