At UPMC Somerset, youll be joining our team of experienced Operating Room staff. Our CSPTs play an integral role in deliver world class patient care by performing the proper decontamination, cleaning, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, storage, distribution and documentation of reusable surgical instrumentation and equipment according to established procedures.

Candidates with 2 years of Central Sterile Processing experience may be eligible for a $5,000 Sign-on Bonus (2-year commitment required)

Responsibilities:
Assess supplies for surgical procedures and set up case carts. Maintain inventory and handle instrument trays and patient care equipment.
Clean and decontaminate reusable equipment, instruments, and supplies both manually and mechanically.
Communicate effectively using good interpersonal skills. Adhere to department policies on decontamination, sterile processing, infection control, and safety.

Entry-level requirements
High school Graduate/GED
OR 1 year of experience with UPMC.
Six months of healthcare experience required.
Currently enrolled in an Accredited Surgical Technician/Sterile Processing Program Preferred.
Must complete 10 hours of continuing education to remain qualified as a Central Sterile Technician on an annual basis.
Central Sterile Technician, Senior requirements (Sign-on Bonus eligible)
High School Graduate or Equivalent.
Two years of Central Sterile Processing experience required.
OR Graduate of an accredited surgical technician/sterile processing program with one year of central sterile processing experience required.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution OR Certified Registered Central Service Technician OR International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management required within 18 months of hire.
Staff employed prior to December 28, 2020 are grandfathered and do not need to obtain the certification.
