THE POSITION
The Department of Human Services, Bureau of Juvenile Justice Services, Loysville Youth Development Center provides dedicated, high-quality care to at-risk youth residents.  We are seeking an energetic, dedicated, cooperative, and motivated Licensed Practical Nurse to join the team at Loysville Youth Development Center.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in this position is responsible for performing nursing duties to provide medical, dental, and mental health care for the residents at the Loysville Youth Development Center (LYDC).

The LPN provides direct nursing clinical care to LYDC residents and makes appropriate referrals as necessary to ensure that residents medical needs are met.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment; 40 hour work week.
The Department of Human Services provides excellent benefits, pay increases, paid leave and holidays, as well as opportunities for career advancement.
Work hours involve a rotation between the day and evening shift. The position works every third weekend (Saturday and Sunday) and every third major holiday.
Day shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, with a 30 minute lunch.
Evening shift: 12:00 PM – 8:30 PM, with a 30 minute lunch.
Hours may change based on operational needs.
Travel and overtime as needed.

Salary:  Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $66,076 (before taxes).

  REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONSNecessary Special Requirements:

This position requires active authorization to practice as a Licensed Practice Nurse in Pennsylvania.
All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
Other Requirements:

PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
If you are within 60 days of completing a licensed practical nursing program approved by the State Board of Nursing, you are eligible to apply for this job posting.  At the time of appointment to a position, you must show proof of possession of a current, valid PA temporary practice permit or PA Licensed Practical Nurse license.
You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
A conditional offer of employment will require satisfactory completion of a medical examination and drug screening.
This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including, but not limited to, PA State Police, Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI clearance.
