Leidos is seeking a System Administrator with a strong Linux and Windows background. The System Admin will support a large contract providing Timing and Synchronization services to the Department of Defense. The work thats being done on this contract is extremely important and offers its team members the opportunity to work autonomously and explore new technologies. Please note – the candidate hired must live close and be able to commute to the DMV (D.C., Maryland, Virginia) area. This is a 50% remote position.

The System Admin should demonstrate extensive experience in Linux and Windows server management and other related technologies. This individual will support high priority and high visibility implementation projects in support of a very large, high-profile Timing and Synchronization Program. The Timing & Sync Systems Administrator will be responsible for providing full support to the customer on multiple, simultaneous tasks.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Provide expert technical knowledge to monitor and maintain an enterprise services environment consisting of Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers, network appliances, and some Windows Servers.

Assist mission partners with user account and device management and troubleshooting system/service access issues.

Implement and deploy scripting or automation tools to optimize processes and improve the efficiency of the environment – PowerShell, Python, Bash, and other tools and platforms.

Be a point of escalation for lower-level technicians and higher difficulty issues.

Lead configuration updates and maintenance activities to patch, secure, and maintain systems.

Coordinate with other Agency systems and network administrators to ensure program efforts are being managed, tracked, and completed.

Use the Microsoft suite of tools to create schedules, and track projects.

Identify risks, issues, and challenges that may interfere with or prevent project completion.

Coordinate and track shipment of devices with high level stakeholders to various locations.

Respond to, analyze, and resolve issues that degrade system or network performance to minimize downtime.

Use advanced systems and networking knowledge to develop solutions for complex technical issues.

Create and update documentation for common issues and processes, technical drawings, and related artifacts to contribute to the team’s knowledge base.

Collaborate with other technical experts and external stakeholders to provide engineering solutions for design changes and upgrades.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelors degree and 8 years of related experience or Master’s degree and 6 years of related experience. Additional experience, education and training may be considered in lieu of degree.

Active DoD SECRET clearance.

Willingness to travel as needed as mission dictates to ensure successful implementation.

Willingness to perform other project-related tasks as assigned by manager.

DoD-8570 IAT Level 2 certification (Security CE) within 6 months of hire date.

Extensive experience troubleshooting Linux OS, network, and domain related issue.

Minimum of 5 years’ experience working as a System Administrator; extensive experience performing system administration tasks – installing, maintaining, monitoring, recovering, rebuilding, upgrading, patching.

Extensive experience researching complex technical solutions beyond internal SOPs.

Experience working with multiple technologies and open to learning new technologies.

Experience maintaining systems and services in an air-gapped environment.

Ability to demonstrate good judgement, professionalism, and communicate clearly (verbal and written).

Highly proficient problem solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills.

Knowledge of standard DoD security policies such as DISA STIGS and general vulnerabilities management.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $87,100.00 – $157,450.00
