Summary This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Offices of Hearings and Inquiries (OHI), Customer Accessibility Resource Staff (CARS). As a Health Insurance Specialist, GS-0107-14, you will serve as the Director, Customer Accessibility Resource Staff (CARS), and oversee and direct the key provisions and regulations implementing Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 for external customers. Responsibilities Develop goals, objectives, priorities, work plans and timelines for CARS functions and programs. Direct and lead intake processes for accessibility concerns and complaints from CMS employees. Direct and lead activities that promote accessibility of CMS information for external customers and individuals with disabilities. In order to qualify for the GS-14 , you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: Conducting CMS disability awareness program activities (e.g., policy and operational communications, customer response, etc.); AND Planning or implementing complex special projects or assignments involving coordination across program and/or organizational lines; AND Establishing and maintaining liaison with internal and/or external components. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Supervisory positions must report a minimum 2 times per week and non-Supervisory positions must report a minimum of 2 times per pay period.
