Job Description

Turner & Townsend Heery is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team of professionals in delivering critical facilities construction support services for our clients.

The Senior Project Manager (with a Mechanical Background) is responsible for implementing all non-capital and capital construction projects, from planning & design through construction to occupancy. The Project Management and Construction Management Team is committed to delivering projects successfully, professionally, and collaboratively while keeping customer satisfaction a priority and serving the Colleges best interest.

Projects include renovations, and modifications of existing buildings, and complex facilities upgrades, as well as major capital project renovations, additions, and new building construction over $2,000,000 in cost.

General Description of Position:

Serve as Senior Project Manager at client site to ensure the planning, design and construction of projects are accomplished correctly, and in accordance with Building Code, plans, and specs, on time and within budget.

Senior Project Managers manage projects from Planning thru Design/Preconstruction, Construction phase and Closeout.

Responsibilities include:

Communicate and interface with campus stake holders, end users and officials

Prepare/review budgets, schedules and cost estimates

Managing projects through all phases of planning, design and construction

Perform cost and risk management assessments

Prepare documents and assist in periodic client updates and progress reports

Review, analyze and interpret contract documents

Build and maintain client relationships

The position will be based at client site in Annandale, VA.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a solid background in public or private sector / commercial or institutional / facilities construction management, engineering, or architecture with the following:

Ability to manage simultaneous projects and resources.

Ability to think strategically, plan, problem-solve, and collaborate with project team members

Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications and enforce contract documents

Excellent communication skills, keen attention to detail, quality control, and demonstrated organizational skills

Lead progress meetings, perform onsite observations and reports

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Microsoft Project, and Excel

Valid State Driver’s License with an insurable driving record

Considerable knowledge of building design disciplines and construction

Considerable knowledge of construction trades and building codes

Ability to maintain harmonious relationships with all project stakeholders, including NVCC staff, faculty, designers, and contractors

Ability to identify deficiencies in building components and systems through visual inspection and description of operational problems

Demonstrated ability to communicate orally and in writing

Education and Experience

Senior Project Manager Experience: 10 years of experience on commercial and institutional building projects from the planning phase thru design, construction and close out.

Construction Management, Engineering, or Architecture Degree (Preferred but not required)

CCM, PE, AIA, or RA preferred but not required

Experienced in managing all phases of planning, design and construction
