Summary The National Science Foundation is seeking qualified candidates for a Program Director position within the Division Chemical, Bioengineering, Environmental, and Transport Systems (CBET) in the Directorate for Engineering (ENG) in Alexandria, VA. Responsibilities The CBET Program Director for Engagement and Broadening Participation works with Division management, including the Division Director and Deputy Division Director, Program Directors, and program administrative staff in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. Coordination of CBET activities in Engineering Outreach Lead division engagement with internal and external audiences for CBET programs. Design outreach plan and engage CBET staff in supporting expanded outreach activities, including program and cluster office hours and webinars, university visits, conference booth and presentation activities. Coordinate CBET engagement with directorate-wide and agency-wide outreach activities, including ENG EPSCoR workshop, NSF days, speaker bureau, etc. Manage division outreach communications. Produce and distribute division-wide e-newsletter (with input from programs). Ensure web-based information is up to date. Conduct annual assessment of CBET outreach and its impact. Provide division-wide report on outreach impact. Provide recommendations for continuation of specific outreach activities each year. Provide recommendations for continuing CBET participation in ENG and NSF-wide activities. Coordination of CBET activities in Broadening Participation in Engineering Lead Engineering Research Initiation Program within CBET, including annual revisions to solicitation, engagement with research community through webinars and individual meetings with PIs, coordinate review and decision-making across the division. Coordinate CBET engagement with directorate-wide and agency-wide broadening participation activities, including 2024 Agency Priority Goal (APG), HBCU-EIR, HBCU-UP, APWD working group, Disability Equity Initiative. Conduct annual assessment of CBET broadening participation programs and efforts. Provide division-wide report on BPE impact. Provide recommendations for continuation of specific broadening participation activities. New Outreach and Broadening Participation Development, Planning, and Management Shape a vision for broadening participation activities and formulate and identify processes to assess new activities and methods to evaluate current activities. Lead new initiatives for outreach and broadening participation aligned with CBET mission and vision. Develop and present analyses to division leadership to inform decision-making related to potential new initiatives. Qualifications Candidates must have a Ph.D. in an Engineer field plus after award of the Ph.D., six or more years of successful research, research administration, and/or managerial experience pertinent to the position OR a Masters in an Engineering field plus after award of the Masters degree, eight or more years of successful research, research administration, and/or managerial experience pertinent to the position Education Please refer to the Qualifications section.
