What you will do
Maintenance Manager
Mission/Purpose of the Job: To manage Maintenance and Maintenance Engineering resources (human, material, intellectual and financial) in order to deliver decided products at agreed targets. Provide leadership and guidance to the Maintenance organization with the goal of meeting overall equipment effectiveness targets using lean manufacturing concepts. Responsible for safety, quality, delivery, and cost of the maintenance process as well as cascading the business plan objectives through all levels of his/her organization. This leadership role is also responsible for fostering a continuous improvement culture focused on waste elimination, employee engagement, and application of lean theory.
Scope – Managerial position: Manager Operations Maintenance: Responsible for maintenance functions in support of Production at Volvo Group Trucks Operations, Kings Mountain Operations.
Key responsibilities/Accountabilities
Insure a safe work environment for all employees using a methodical approach to risk identification and mitigation
Lead through a communicative leadership style, with 2 way communication and high employee engagement. Ensure all employees are aware of their responsibilities, how they contribute to the total result, and that they are recognized for performance
Develop and execute the vision and direction to lead the maintenance functions
Create an environment of success with the expectation for continuous learning
Expert in lean manufacturing methodology and tools including but not limited to Professional Maintenance, Cost Deployment, People Development, Workplace Organization, Value Stream Mapping, Focused Improvement, Continuous Improvement, etc.; responsible for cascading and coaching this knowledge
Deliver the agreed and committed overall objectives for maintenance including operational budget frame.
Drive and challenge the maintenance team
Ensure that maintenance and functions are properly resourced in all respects and have the capacity, commitment and competence to achieve the planned objectives.
Champion the culture aimed at giving a strong image of the unit and align with AB Volvo values and principles (The Volvo Way, Code of Conduct etc).
Perpetuate a team based organization. Continually inspire, develop and motivate the people within maintenance.
Initiate and follow up restructuring and improvement projects.
Act in close co-operation with other AB Volvo units globally to efficiently develop and deliver services and products with target levels of Safety, Quality, Delivery time and Cost.
Actively support overall company programs and policies.
Participate in meetings and Boards, Councils, Committees and Networks upon request of the Kings Mountain Operations leadership.
Represent maintenance with external stakeholders as required

Who are you?
Essential educational and/or training qualifications and certificates
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering or related field; Master’s Degree preferred
Formal training in leadership, communication and people skills
Certification or formal training in Lean Manufacturing Methodology
Competencies required, taken from the Volvo Leadership competencies
Preferred experience and knowledge
Minimum ten (10) years’ of engineering experience in a variety of roles
Minimum five (5) years’ supervisory/managerial experience in a manufacturing environment
Able to demonstrate a clear vision, global mind-set and successful people and culture leadership and integration, in a local environment
Experience working in a lean manufacturing environment
Necessary technical/functional/language skills
Needs to have a good understanding of the Volvo Group Businesses
As all documentation is in English, proficiency in the English language is required.
