As a Hospice Aide/ Certified Nursing Assistant, you will:

Report directly to the Administrator, Executive Director or Patient Care Manager Senior and function under the direction, instruction and supervision of the Registered Nurse and/or Clinical Supervisor.

Help the patient to maintain good personal hygiene.

Assist in maintaining a safe and healthy environment.

Prepare and serve light meals.

Assist in feeding patient when needed.

Assist the patient in ambulation.

Assist with the safe use of a walker or wheelchair as taught and supervised by the nurse.

Assist with light housekeeping tasks such as emptying trash and changing linens.

Assist with certain treatments as ordered on the aide plan of care and as allowable in state-specific regulations.

Attempt to promote patient’s mental alertness through involvement in activities of interest.

Give basic emotional and psychological support to the patient and other members of the household.

Report any change in the patient’s mental or physical condition or home situation to the Registered Nurse and members of the interdisciplinary team.

Demonstrate basic care to the primary caregiver.

Practice infection control measures and standard precautions.

Provide accurate documentation with visit itineraries

Attend staff meetings.

Participate in at least one Quality Improvement activity yearly, as assigned by supervisor.

Complete documentation in a timely manner as outlined in orientation.

About You

Hospice Aide/ CNA Requirements:

Hospice heart: compassionate, kind and empathetic to your patients and their families.

Comfortable providing care wherever the patient calls “home”.

Demonstrate flexibility and composure while supporting others in a time of crisis.

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license.

Six (6) months of patient care experience in hospice, home health, ICU, geriatric, or oncology strongly preferred.

Additional, preferred experience to help you be successful in a hospice role: hospital Staff RN, Med Surg, PACU, Float pool, ER or emergency room, critical care, acute care, cardiac, geriatric, admissions, wound care, telemetry, nursing home or travel.

Current driver’s license and automobile insurance.

Current CPR certification
