Your Specific Responsibilities:
Assists General Services Manager with overall Facilities Program maintenance needs for the Florida Department of Health in Brevard County.
Maintains regular contact/communication with immediate supervisor and the Clinic supervisor on all matters relating to building habitability and maintenance issues.
Performs maintenance, inspections, repairs, grounds services, and custodial services at designated facilities using appropriate tools/materials and methods.
Assists in the oversight of and performs troubleshooting and light maintenance of HVAC systems (including chiller systems), electrical and plumbing projects/repairs.
Performs floor maintenance, sanitation, and environmental support services, and keeps the facility clean.
Cleans and stocks restrooms daily and maintains and orders replenishment of custodial supplies for all areas.
Assists with the proper training, handling and disposal of biohazardous materials.
Handles and disposes biomedical waste in accordance with established standards.
Serves as a liaison with County Facilities, County Risk Management, County Fleet Services, and other County departments that interact with the Facilities program of the Florida Department of Health in Brevard County.
Initiates Work Orders for submission to County Facilities Management.
Completes Facilities-related purchase orders in the MyFloridaMarketPlace system.
Assists in the oversight of building renovations/improvements, including building fixtures; leads projects through to completion as assigned.
Coordinates renovation/improvement planning with involved staff, supervisors, and vendors.
Assists with the coordination of internal planning among Florida Department of Health in Brevard County staff for details regarding the construction, relocation into, and post-occupancy facility needs of new construction and build-outs of shell spaces.
Attends and participates in Construction Committee meetings scheduled with DOH Design and Construction Project Manager, Project Architects, and the Construction Management team.
Oversees DOH-Brevard’s non-Environmental Health fleet of vehicles to ensure they are properly functioning and contain necessary registration, insurance, and local procedural information.
Member of the Safety Committee; assists chair of committee to ensure quarterly facility safety inspection checks are performed and documented.
Assists General Services Manager with coordinating Facilities response prior to, during, and after a community disaster.
May be responsible for properly transporting vaccines and other emergency supplies to various locations throughout the county, including Central Stores and hurricane shelters.
Must respond to maintenance emergencies, including after hours and in preparation for inclement weather.
Performs other duties as assigned, and at locations as needed.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Basic computer skills. Knowledge of working with Windows, Edge, Word, Excel, and Outlook. Knowledge of reading basic blueprints. Ability to properly use chemicals and cleaning materials. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds unaided and up to 150 pounds using hand trucks. Ability to perform minor repair work. Ability to use cleaning equipment, including vacuum, auto-scrubbers, buffers, wet-vacuum, mops, buckets, and other general cleaning equipment. Knowledge of and ability to use hand-tools and simple power/shop tools, including drill, electric screwdriver, and saws. Ability to work independently. Basic knowledge of vehicles, including how to check fluids. Knowledge of and ability to read and to understand the English language. Ability to communicate effectively.
Qualifications:
Minimum:
Able to lift at least 40 pounds unaided and up to 150 pounds using mechanical devices.
Able to stand on a ladder, reach out above head, stop, climb, squat, push, pull, lift, carry, crawl or bend on a frequent basis to perform maintenance duties.
Valid driver’s license. If out of state, Florida license required within 30 days of hire.
Preferred:
Custodial experience.
Biomedical waste handling experience.
Experience working with blueprints and/or construction plans.
Experience working with computers with Microsoft Windows / Microsoft Office.
Experience working with power tools and hand tools.
Experience purchasing supplies in a business setting.
