Technical Program Manager, Uber Transit

About the Role

As a Technical Project Manager at Uber Transit, youre pivotal in helping transit agencies and universities worldwide implement new initiatives tailored to their needs.

Youll lead large, complex cross-team technical and program initiatives for the Uber Transit Team. The ideal candidate excels at executing complex technical programs and effectively communicates with both external partners and internal cross-functional teams throughout the project lifecycle.

Youll own projects, collaborating closely with account executives and stakeholders to design solutions, document business requirements, create timelines, and ensure project success from start to finish.

Your role involves standardizing processes, ensuring efficient and consistent execution, and maintaining accountability by tracking progress, resolving dependencies, identifying issues, evaluating risks, and communicating status updates to leadership and collaborators.

Youll act as a liaison between customer needs and business priorities, engaging and energizing cross-functional teams to achieve shared goals.

What Youll Do

Project Management: Lead complex, large-scale initiatives across teams. More technical in nature. Collaborate with engineering, operations, and stakeholders, and customer success to estimate work efforts, define milestones, and manage resources. Track progress, resolve dependencies, and communicate status to upper management and stakeholders.

Obstacle Removal: Proactively identify and eliminate roadblocks to maintain project momentum. Manage issue escalations and support teams in balancing competing priorities.

Technical Implementation: Understand technical details level and propose alternatives when necessary. Ask clarifying questions to prioritize tasks and ensure team efficiency. Ability to explain details both to technical and nontechnical individuals

Strategic Planning: Drive cross-functional strategic and business planning processes. Develop and execute detailed program/project plans, including roadmaps, funding, resource allocation, and hiring goals.

Continuous Improvement: Implement ongoing enhancements to the engineering organization and program management processes. Share best practices, tools, and frameworks to improve product development and delivery.

Stakeholder Management: Ability to communicate effectively both internally and externally, providing visibility and highlight issue when required to the appropriate individuals

Basic Qualifications

5 years experience in Technical Project/Program Management, Strategy, Operations, or Transportation Projects

SQL proficiency

Experienced in working with global teams

Familiarity with API, technical integrations, or acceptance testing

Demonstrated ability to think creatively and strategically when designing a new program or project requirement

Ability to manage multiple projects across multiple stakeholders, both internal and external

Skills to communicate complex ideas effectively, Impeccable attention to detail

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate effectively with both technical and nontechnical individuals.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a strong bias for action.

Bachelors degree in related field

Preferred Qualifications

Prior Transit experience is a plus

Experience in the technology industry

Experience working with API, technical integrations, or acceptance testing

Proficiency with appropriate internal and external data tools and languages to extract and model data. Adherence to develop and keep best practices in line with Uber standards.

For Atlanta, GA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$99,000 per year – USD$110,000 per year. For Chicago, IL-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$112,000 per year – USD$124,000 per year. For Dallas, TX-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$112,000 per year – USD$124,000 per year. For Miami, FL-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$112,000 per year – USD$124,000 per year. For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$124,000 per year – USD$137,500 per year. For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$124,000 per year – USD$137,500 per year. For Seattle, WA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$112,000 per year – USD$124,000 per year. For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Ubers bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
