Your Specific Responsibilities:
This employee is a member of the Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County Health at Epidemiology, Disease Control, and Immunization Services (EDC-IS) and will function as a Community Health Nurse providing public health nursing services in Miami-Dade County. This position will report to the Community Health Nursing Supervisor. Most of the time will be spent coordinating, monitoring, and planning generalized public health nursing services related to vaccine preventable disease control for the EDC-IS pertaining to the health of the community and the individual. This employee must be able to function independently and make decisions, and function as a team member within a nurse-support staff team. Incumbent will follow Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and information security regulations set by federal, state and local policies to ensure confidentiality and privacy of the client health information. Incumbent will establish good rapport with staff and clients and provide excellent customer service. Incumbent is expected to adhere to established Health Department policies and procedures.
Coordinates plans and monitors immunization activities at the Epidemiology, Disease Control and Immunization Services (EDC-IS) barrier-free clinic. Activities include but are not limited to coordinating and managing the provision of immunization services to the individual and families of Miami-Dade County, vaccine administration, record assessment, counseling, requisition of vaccines and supplies, maintenance of inventory and accountability and providing information and education to clients. Coordinates and monitors scheduling and staffing for the EDC-IS Program clinic. Organizes and supervises clinic personnel. Utilizes nursing assessments to provide vaccines, promote and provide information, education, and follow-up to clients. May be responsible for the collection of all monies and disbursement to the financial office of Miami-Dade County Health Department.
Monitors the maintenance of policies and procedures, confidentiality, and implementation of safety procedures. Communicates on a regular basis with the supervisor and immunization staff. Utilizes the Florida Shots and Health Clinic Management System to accurately access, verify and input data.
Responsible for communicating with, motivating, training employees, planning and directing their work.
Organizes and participates in outbreak activities of vaccine preventable disease.
Participates in workgroups, attends meetings, conference all and training as requested. Complies with program’s protocols for calling in sick, tardiness and/or leave request. Respond to FDOH emergency alerts and Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) call down list, etc. Ensures that email communications are maintaining daily.
Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Minimum –
Valid license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida.
Incumbent in this position is preferred to be bilingual in English/Spanish or English/Creole.
