The Facilities Engineer III has a new and different work environment every day and performs a variety of maintenance and repair tasks for the safety, comfort, security, and beautification of facilities County-wide. The Facilities Engineer III position is stable with constant work that is performed during a 40-hour workweek. The travel is limited to the boundaries of Anoka County and you will be home for dinner. The Facilities Engineer III serves as an elevated point of contact for facilities maintenance, problem solving, and will evaluate the need for changes or recommendations regarding facility systems; serves as a knowledge resource and mentor for the facilities engineering team; performs work under minimal supervision. This full-time, non-exempt, benefit-eligible position is located at a variety of Anoka County properties. This position requires a minimal on-call rotation. Pay & Benefits Salary: $60,819.20 – $72,966.40 ($29.24 to $35.08 per hour). 2024 Anoka County Salary Schedule Grade 32: $60,819.20 – $85,113.60 ($29.24 to $40.92 per hour). 24 days of paid flexible time off and up to 11.5 paid holidays. Expected work hours are Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Job Duties and Responsibilities These examples are not all inclusive and are intended to be illustrative of primary responsibilities of an Anoka County Facilities Engineer III: Operate, repair, and maintain stationary facilities equipment. Schedule, coordinate, and perform preventative maintenance and determine methods for minimizing disturbance, inconvenience, and risk for county employees and customers. Maintain, monitor, and adjust heating and air-conditioning systems and alarms. Repair and replace faulty electrical equipment. Maintain piping and drain systems, clean and snake drains, repair and replace plumbing fixtures, flush-o-meters, faucets, leaking pipes, and drains. Ensure doors and door hardware are in good working order. Perfor complex troubleshooting and maintenance on air compressors, fans, pumps, and outdoor equipment. Coordinate annual boiler inspections and cleanings and ensure safe operation and maintenance of flame detection devices, climate controls. Ensure proper records. Direct and assist with the repair, moving, maintenance, and customization of office furnishings and equipment. Respond to and maintain alarms related to facilities safety. Provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group. Qualifications and Requirements: Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed Requires accreditation from a technical school or applicable trades and at least 4 years of job-related experience In lieu of the required education, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis Ability to operate HVAC equipment, and hand and power tools Ability to commit to an after-hours, 24/7, on-call team rotation; 1-hour response time required Successfully pass drivers license background check Ability to use Computer Maintenance Management and Building Automation computer software Knowledge of state and local building and safety codes and OSHA safety standards Knowledge of principles of electricity, plumbing, HVAC theory, maintenance, and construction Ability to prioritize and manage deadlines Possess a Second Class C Boilers License with the ability to obtain a First Class C Boilers license within 12 months of hire CFC Universal Certification, or ability to obtain license within six months of hire Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed CFC Universal Certification HVAC Certification Knowledge of state and local building and safety codes and OSHA safety standards Strong oral and written communication skills Excellent customer service skills Ability to prioritize and manage deadlines Physical Demands and Work Conditions Standard office environment, and outdoor work sites in all weather conditions depending on assignment Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus, such as to work on computers. Ability to see colors, shades and brightness Hearing abilities required for general and phone communication, signals, and machine sounds Ability to detect, discern, and tolerate a wide range of scents required for safety and performance of essential duties Cognitive abilities required include problem solving, prioritization of tasks, short- and long-term memory, interpreting and understanding written documents, and general mathematical skills Assignments require several hours of varied physical activity in addition to viewing a computer screen, sitting at a desk, or walking/standing Physical activity may include repeated bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, walking on sloped or uneven terrain, and handling/carrying equipment Regular lifting of 0-25 lbs., occasional lifting of up to 75 lbs.
