SECOND SHIFT GENERAL LABORER – WEEKLY PAY
Aerotek
Job Description
Under general supervision, the General Laborer is responsible for three key areas: sorting paper, operating the bagger/cuber, and stacking/palletizing the product. These roles are performed on a rotational basis. Duties include monitoring various types of paper or alternative fiber for undesirable debris as it moves along a conveyor belt. If undesirable debris, such as plastic or metals, is spotted, the sorter must remove it from the conveyor and place it in the appropriate receptacle. This role requires the ability to stretch across the conveyor belt and potentially lift heavy metal pieces.
Bagger/Cuber: Duties include picking up empty bags, shaking them open, placing them over the ram snout opening, and starting the filling process. The bagger/cuber must hold the loose end of the bag to stabilize it while it fills, ensure the bag is properly sealed, and monitor the bags weight. If any bag is not sealed properly, it must be removed from the conveyor belt, and its contents dumped into a reclaiming hopper for recycling. This task involves lifting bags and stretching.
Stacker/Palletizer: Duties include lifting and stacking bales of product on a truck or pallet for shipping, and operating a shrink-wrapping machine if necessary. All stacking and palletizing are done according to an approved pattern to maximize shipping space. This position requires the ability to lift 30-pound bags repeatedly, bending, and stretching.
