Job Title: Sample Preparation TechnicianJob Description
This position is responsible for executing excellence in sample processing and comminution techniques in a high-volume, fast-paced commercial lab. Sample preparation is the first stage of the sample life cycle and it is crucial that all steps (processing, aliquoting, labeling, and storage) are completed correctly to ensure the accuracy of lab testing.
Hard Skills
Follow preparation techniques for processing samples for lab testing, including the use of grinding mills and other comminution techniques (i.e., blenders, Magic Bullet grinders, liquid nitrogen).
Ensure accurate labeling of sample cups with assigned unique identifiers.
Record sample preparation techniques and delivery details into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) software.
Maintain organization structure of samples by accurately delivering and disposing of samples as necessary.
Execute submission requests through third-party labs by logging samples and preparing them for shipment.
Follow all lab safety and quality requirements and procedures (i.e., PPE, GMP, OSHA, ISO).
Perform data entry and file documentation in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
Soft Skills
Ability to communicate timelines for testing results effectively.
General lab upkeep including ordering and stocking lab supplies, cleaning, and equipment maintenance.
Flexibility to perform tasks such as titrations/dilutions as needed for sample prep.

This is a contract position with a duration of 12 Month(s).
Work Site
This is a fully on-site position in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Work Environment
1st Shift, Full-time at 37.5-40 hours/week. Monday through Friday, core hours will be between either 9am-5pm or 7am-3pm and will rotate during the week based on needs. Candidates need to be available for both shifts. Able to complete various tasks while wearing required PPE (i.e., face shields, hearing protection, steel-toed shoes, OSHA-approved safety glasses, laboratory coat, cryogenic gloves). The lab also has core summer hours from Memorial Day to Labor Day where shorter days on Fridays and longer days Monday through Thursday may be applicable. This position is located at the JFB Technical Center in Golden Valley and supports sample handling and distribution to the analytical lab for testing of food samples. The team consists of roughly 10-15 members in the lab prep area.
