Responsibilities
The Quality Specialist is an integral role supporting Global Logistics and Inventory Operations for Mayo Clinic Labs. The Quality Specialist supports operational functions with investigation of shipments, metric collection and review for carriers/couriers, performance validation of shipments, validation of products, shipping and inventory audits, courier performance review and trending, and monitoring conditions of shipping temperature and stability. Engaging various teams and developing specific and wide ranging solutions will be an aspect of this role. The position works closely with Specimen Operations on a day-to-day basis and receives direction from the Quality Management Coordinator and Supervisor in support of executing department initiatives.
Works with the management team to ensure the quality system essentials exist for all assigned areas. Responsible for developing and maintaining the quality program for the work unit in collaboration with the management team. Represents the laboratory in all accreditation inspections and oversees the proficiency testing program.
Individuals hired to this position are required to complete 2 years in this role before being eligible to transfer to other positions within Mayo Clinic.
This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Also, Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.
Qualifications
To be considered for the Quality Specialist role, you must have one of the following:
Bachelors degree in clinical/medical laboratory science (CLS/MLS), medical technology (MT), chemistry, biological science from an accredited institution, and two years of relevant laboratory experience required.
Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in addition to a certificate in MLS, and two years of relevant laboratory experience required.
Bachelors degree, and two years of relevant laboratory experience required.
A HEW certificate may be substituted for the specified degree.
Additional Qualifications

DLMP/MCS employees that have been in their current lab/position for less than 2 years must attach an early release approval from their supervisor.

Experience in basic clinical laboratory quality management concepts and regulatory and accreditation requirements.
Self-motivated, highly organized, efficient, and ability to exercise strong decision-making skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
Experience with data collection, organization, analysis and delivery of information.

Compensation Detail
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.; $68,411 – $102,731/annually.
