Performs supervisory and management activities consistent with the expectations of Essentia Health and the Board of Pharmacy rules and regulations. Participates in and oversees the preparation and dispensing of prescriptions to provide comprehensive pharmacy services. Ambulatory:Performs supervisory and management activities consistent with the expectations of Essentia Health and the Board of Pharmacy rules and regulations. Number of direct reports and budget responsibilities will vary by location. This position performs all duties associated with interpretation, dispensing and monitoring of medications to provide quality pharmaceutical services to patients, physicians and other health care professionals. The pharmacist will optimize drug therapy to improve the patients quality of life and health outcomes, while providing access to medications and immunizations. The pharmacist will also participate in clinical initiatives and assist in all aspects of the daily pharmacy department activities, including training of new staff and pharmacy students, supervision of pharmacy technicians and interns, resolution of customer service issues, billing, record keeping, monthly audits, and other functions necessary for optimal pharmacy performance. Job duties also include inventory control, care of supplies and equipment, and accurate cash handling. Work Experience: Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
Education Qualifications:
Educational Requirements:Doctorate or bachelors degree in pharmacy from a college of pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education. Ambulatory:Graduate of a college of pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education (BS or PharmD degree required)
Licensure/Certification Qualifications:

Acute:
Licensed as a Registered Pharmacist by the Board of Pharmacy of the state in which they will be working (Minnesota, Wisconsin, etc.)
Ambulatory:
Basic Life Support (BLS) certified within one week of hire
Immunization Delivery Certification required at time of hire
Specific to the Prescription Service Center location, the supervisor must be licensed and/or registered in all of the states in which the pharmacy ships medications. The pharmacist in charge is required to have registrations in Idaho and Iowa and licenses in Michigan, Minnesota, Texas and Wisconsin
Licensed as a Registered Pharmacist by the following Board(s) of Pharmacy (Ambulatory):
Minnesota – applicable to all ambulatory pharmacists, except if primary location is Hayward, WI
Wisconsin – applicable only if primary work location is a Wisconsin location
Acute / Ambulatory:
If not licensed as a Registered Pharmacist upon hire, the candidate must have a Pharmacy Intern License and/or is eligible to work as an intern and must become a Registered Pharmacist within 90 days of hire:
Minnesota: Must be licensed as a Pharmacy Intern through the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy
Wisconsin: In the final months of a Pharmacy program. No registration required
North Dakota: Must be registered as a Pharmacy Intern through the North Dakota Board of Pharmacy
Meets Board of Pharmacy requirements to be Pharmacist in Charge/Managing Pharmacist within applicable states
Ongoing continuing education and license renewal as required by the states Board of Pharmacy.
