Summary
CHS, Inc. has an exciting opportunity at our Pipeline and Terminal (P&T) facilities centered out of Laurel, Montana. We are looking for a Maintenance Superintendent to help ensure safe and efficient maintenance of P&T operations. You must be a detail-oriented, results-driven individual with a commitment to quality, accuracy, and the ability to organize and prioritize workloads to meet deadlines. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a strong commitment to safety and compliance with the ability to work in both a team environment and on self-directed tasks are necessary.
Responsibilities
Supervise and direct P&T maintenance personnel, including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating employee performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Coordinate the development of maintenance strategies and standards.
Develop a vision for the company maintenance culture and help each employee understand their role in achieving that vision.
Coordinate with Operations, Engineering and Operational Compliance
Ensure safe and compliance execution of maintenance strategy.
Joint ownership of O&M Compliance
Ownership of SAP/CMMS and spare parts inventory
Ownership of maintenance related MOC and Enablon action items
Coordinate maintenance and repair work with the Operations Superintendent
Audit all compliance documents submitted by staff.
Represent maintenance during internal and external audits.
Operational Excellence SME and steward and champion SAP integration within maintenance and operations departments in collaboration with other business units
Work closely with engineering staff and provide input on the scheduling and completion of major capital and expense projects.
Assist other engineering disciplines as needed; and evaluate project impacts on existing systems.
Oversee selection and evaluation of maintenance contractors.
Participates in the collective bargaining process.
Assist in the preparation of budgets and maintenance costs control.
Oversee company “critical spare” parts inventory.
Participate in or lead project concept, design, and execution.
Assist with developing and modifying operating procedures.
Travel as needed.
Ability to be on call during non-business hours and work extended hours as needed.
Promote a strong safety culture for all employees, contractors, and customers. Follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance to correct.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (required)
High school diploma or GED
4 years of experience in pipeline operations and/or construction experience
Prior leadership experience with progressively advancing level of leadership responsibilities
Additional Qualifications
Bachelors degree preferred in Engineering or related 4-year technical degree (e.g. Engineering Technology, Construction Science, or Construction Management)
Working knowledge of valves, pumps, pump repair and alignment, welding and weld inspection and other pipeline maintenance related tasks
Knowledge and application of PHMSA and OSHA regulations to pipeline operations and maintenance practices
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook PowerPoint and database data entry
Ability to communicate both verbally and written to various levels within the organization, vendors, contractors, and community correspondents.
5 years of supervisory experience preferred
Experience facilitating cross-functional groups
Experience with practices relating to contracting and contractor management
Experience using SAP or similar CMMS
