The client is seeking a Special Education Counselor to help overhaul its special education program and provide much-needed support to students and staff. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about education and looking to make a significant impact. This role can be filled either as a full-time position onsite or part-time if worked remotely.

Responsibilities:

 Support the special education program for grades 6-8

 Provide counseling services to students

 Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)

 Conduct assessments and provide crisis intervention as needed

Skills and Requirements

Masters degree from an accredited institution in Counseling with practicum or internship, typically from a CACREP-accredited program

 Pass required exams for each licensure level from the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC)

 100 clock hours with 40 being direct service

 600 clock hours of internship

o with 240 hours of direct service,

o Or with 2 years of teaching experience

o or with 400 hours

 Supervised experience as an LPC to become an Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC)

 Threat assessment experience

 1-2 years of counseling experience

 School certification in Illinois (if onsite) Preferred Qualifications:

 Experience in a working with middle school students.

 Ability to work independently and as part of a team

 Strong communication and organizational skills

 Local to Illinois and can work on site. null
