American Academy of Pediatrics
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the nation’s leading advocacy organization for children’s healthcare, is seeking a manager with proficiency with MS Office, SQL server 2012, Power BI, SSIS and SSRS to lead a team and demonstrate hands-on solutions. The ideal candidate will embrace and learn new technologies and oversee the technical implementation of current and future AAP databases, business reporting solutions, and data migration strategies.
Some tasks include:
Manage database set-up, testing, maintenance and data entry.
Work with business users to design and develop prototypes for tactical and enterprise solutions.
Analyze, troubleshoot, and debug business solutions software through design, development, and deployment.
Implement user reporting solutions based on business requirements and content knowledge.
Work closely with Project Managers and Business Analysts to provide estimates and help refine technical requirements.
Work with the Database Administrators to ensure all best practices are being followed.
Work with AAP staff to help promote data understanding and ability to get data without IT involvement.
Resolve data integrity issues by profiling data and understating data behavior and business rules.
Manage and report metrics leading to database locking and blocking.
Coordinate the processing, dispatch and archiving of databases and database functions.
Supervise and mentor assigned staff and encourage a work environment that promotes inclusion and belonging of all staff. Ensure staff operate in a fiscally prudent manner, maintain confidentiality, operate with the highest ethical standards, and provide excellent service to members and volunteers.
Stay abreast of emerging technologies and how to apply development methodologies to them.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualified candidates will possess:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or an equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
At least four years’ related experience maintaining or managing business intelligence solutions, including using relational databases to create reports, setting up transactional databases, setting up analysis and SSIS solutions, implementing a company-wide Power BI data strategy, experience with data migrations and data marts. Supervisory experience or servicing as a technical team lead required.
Excellent analytical, project management, communication, interpersonal, diplomacy, critical thinking, verbal/written communication, and leadership skills required. Must be able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously within tight deadlines, take initiative, collaborate effectively with various internal and external constituents and liaise between technical team and end users, perform complex applications programming, and be skilled in leading and developing staff as well as promoting and maintaining a positive and cooperative team-oriented work environment, with a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. Must keep up with rapidly changing industry trends and technology and understand and respond to customer needs. Outstanding technical acumen with the ability to easily learn and apply new technologies. Proficiency with MS Office, SQL server 2012, Power BI, SSIS and SSRS required; familiarity with NetForum and Business Intelligence platforms highly desirable. Some evening and weekend work may be required.
Hybrid working arrangement of 40% on-site at our Chicago suburb headquarters in Itasca, IL.
