Medical Lab Technician

Job Title: Medical Lab TechnicianJob Description

– Provide quality test results by operating general chemistry, performing manual methods, and operating other instrumentation available in the laboratory area. – Analyze and organize work by matching computer orders with specimen labeling, sorting specimens, checking labeling, logging specimens, arranging reports for delivery, and keeping work surfaces clean and orderly. – Responsible for monitoring test analyses and specimen examinations to ensure that acceptable levels of analytic performance are maintained. – Maintain quality results by running standards and controls, verifying equipment function through routine equipment maintenance and troubleshooting, and calibrating equipment utilizing approved testing procedures. – Have the ability to process and test upwards of 1000 samples per shift. – Work with blood/urine samples and perform needed testing. – Maintain records that demonstrate proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.

Work Environment

Lab includes R&D, specimen receiving, chemistry, microbiology. Training will be M-F 6:30am/7am start time till 3:30pm/4pm. Night shift 10:30pm-7am M-F; Rotating Saturdays. Shift differential: $6 added for overnights. Weekend shift: $125/shift if routinely scheduled for Sat or Sun. Office building includes a call center, laboratory, and clerical center. Dress attire: long pants, T-shirt, closed-toed shoes, and lab coats when handling specimens.
