Position Summary
Under general direction of the HSE Manager and Manufacturing Director this position serves as coordinator for occupational safety programs within one or more divisions and/or departments. Plan, design, develop, implement, and evaluate departmental occupational safety programs. This position does not allow for sponsorship or relocation assistance.

Essential Responsibilities
• Assist the HSE Manager / Supervisor with the implementation of environment, safety and health programs, as directed.
• Schedule and conduct weekly safety meetings.
• Conduct daily, weekly and monthly safety audits.
• Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
• Conduct safety orientation for new employees and contractors if necessary.
• Will serve as a member and conduct facility safety committee meetings.
• Conduct and lead the Emergency Response Team (ERT) to include CPR/First Aid & AED Training.
• Coordinate and lead the Emergency Evacuation / Emergency Weather Preparedness Procedures.
• Generate the initial investigation for Health, Safety and Environmental incidents and input data onto the proper documentation to be forwarded to the Management Team. Ensures timely completion of accident/injury reporting. Reviews and investigates accident/incident reports, compiling findings and recommendations for corrective actions into summary report.
• Generate monthly reports as directed by the Powell management.
• Interface between manufacturing employees and Powell Leadership Team
• Responsible for safety training, job hazards analysis, and Risk assessments.
• Responsible for monitoring adherence to company safety program by all company employees and subcontractors.
• Research, plan, organize and conduct training programs/seminars for Powell supervisors with regard to fall protection, Orientation, Personal Protection Equipment, Lockout/ Tag-out / Confined Space, etc.
• Develops, implements, and maintains Powell policies and procedures ensuring adherence to local, state, and federal environmental, health and safety regulations. Keeps abreast of changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization. Serves as a contact with federal, state, and local regulatory bodies.
• Strictly adhere to all HSE regulations, policies, and procedures in a professional manner.
• Stay informed about industry best practices and advancements in HSE.
• Actively participate in regular safety inspections and promptly report any identified hazards.
• Attend, and actively engage in HSE training sessions.
• Maintain accurate records of HSE related activities and incidents.
• Communicate safety concerns or observations to the HSE Supervisor.
• Actively participate in HSE related discussions within the team.
• Be prepared and trained to respond effectively to emergency situations.
• Ensure safe operation and maintenance of safety equipment and tools.
• Identify potential risks in daily activities and contribute to the development of risk mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate on emergency response planning and drills.
• Actively contribute to team HSE goals and initiatives.
• Collaborate with colleagues to promote a culture of safety within the workplace.
• Report accidents or incidents promptly and assist in investigations as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma
• Minimum 2 years of experience in an HSE role within an organization.
• Must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the area of environmental, health and safety compliance.
Skills, Abilities & Other Requirements
• Must possess strong computer skills – familiar with MSOffice software.
• Business aptitude is desirable.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Detail oriented balanced with “big picture” focus.
• Able to manage remote resources and tasks to accomplish objectives.
• Able to lead teams.
• Able to accommodate shifting priorities and react accordingly to address current needs.
• Solid writing and language skills and comfortable with developing and giving presentations.
• Experience with certified management systems like OHSAS 18001 or 45001is desirable.
Working & Environmental Conditions
Working Conditions
Temperature controlled working environment. Some outside activities may be required.
This position may travel out-of-town to attend training and meetings.
Typical office environment: may experience minor discomfort from extensive use of a computer display and keyboard; travel between buildings on campus and between campuses.
Physical Requirements
Maintaining body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, ascending or descending stairs.
Sitting, standing and walking for long periods of time.
Typing, punching or applying pressure to an object with fingers and palm.
