The Registered Nurse – Hospice is responsible for providing care, comfort and support to terminally ill patients. The Registered Nurse – Hospice assumes the responsibility and accountability for the delivery of hospice patient care in various settings. The Registered Nurse demonstrates the ability to make clinical judgments in an effective and efficient manner with supervision. The Registered Nurse will also demonstrate critical thinking and performance ability in the coordination of patient care. Consistently performs according to nursing standards and is accountable in managing patient care and assisting others in the management of patient care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
As a Registered Nurse, you’ll have the opportunity to care for patients in-home with the following responsibilities:
Skilled Nursing Care: Administer comprehensive hospice nursing care at patients’ homes, ensuring their comfort and quality of life.
Care Coordination: Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team, including patients, families, and referring agencies, to ensure seamless, personalized care.
Advanced Care: Provide hands-on advanced nursing care based on the patient’s medical plan, including pain management and symptom control.
Medication and Equipment Management: Administer medication, manage medical equipment, including colostomy/catheter care, and ensure proper trachea care.
Training and Supervision: Supervise and train aides to maintain high standards of patient care.
Patient and Family Support: Offer emotional support and guidance to patients and their families, addressing any concerns or questions.
Requirements
Graduate of an accredited Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
Current state license as an Registered Nurse (RN) and current state driver’s license
Two years experience as an Registered Nurse (RN) in a clinical care setting; hospice or home health experience preferred
Current BLS/CPR certification
Proficient skill using a computer is required; Microsoft Office suite experience is preferred
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to provide effective support to the patient and family
Demonstrate skill in nursing practice, ability to cope with family emotional stress and tolerance of individual lifestyles
