This position has been created for a newly funded 5-year NIH grant examining mother-infant synchrony in brain activity and emotional behavior. The study will focus on the influence of postpartum depression on positive and negative joint responding during three research visits between 3- and 9-months postpartum. The project (‘Postpartum Affect from Infant-Mother Regulation’, PAIR) will be conducted under the joint supervision of Dr. Morgan (Child Affect Regulation and Expression (CARE) lab) and Dr. Hipwell (Intergenerational Studies Lab) in the Department of Psychiatry.
The primary role of the Research Associate is to oversee management of data of multiple studies within the lab and to assist with structured clinical interviewing.
This position is grant funded.
Responsibilities:
Conduct preliminary statistical analysis of project data and provide progress reports to the Principal Investigator as needed.
Responsible for independently overseeing and conducting phone screens, interviews, evaluations, assessments and/or tests with research participants.
Mentor, train and assist with supervising junior research staff as needed.
Responsible for the submission of regular reports detailing the progress of the research.
Discuss outcomes and participate in research and/or clinical decision making process.
Screen referrals.
Initiate research participant recruitment efforts and share responsibility of overseeing accurate data collection.
Assist with IRB and grant submissions as needed.
Assist with preparation of scientific articles as needed.
Masters Degree in psychology, neuroscience, counseling, sociology or related research field and 1 year of work experience in a research project and/or related clinical setting
OR
Bachelors Degree in psychology, neuroscience, counseling, sociology or related research field and 3 years of work experience in a research project and/or related clinical setting
Familiarity with computers and common software packages required
Working knowledge of research methodology strongly preferred
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC)
Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
Act 33 with renewal
Act 34 with renewal
Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
