JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Responsibilities for this position will include but not limited to processing and preparation of
samples, microscope operation, image acquisition and processing, user interactions in the core facility, and other aspects related to microscopy work, as well as general laboratory maintenance and record keeping.
Job Description and Requirements:
In this position the technician will be involved in the day-to-day operations including but not limited to basic laboratory operations, equipment operation, sample preparation and processing for microscopy, data acquisition, image processing and analysis.
Training will be provided to cover the use of equipment related to histology, advanced microscope operation, image capture and data analysis.
The position will be required to go through Penn State Laboratory safety training via PSU-EHS if this has not been previously completed.
Occasional evening or weekend work.
This position will report to the Director of the facility.
Preferred Skills:
General laboratory experience (Chemistry or Biology Lab courses)
Experience or knowledge of microscopy technique and sample prep, histology lab.
Use of basic computer software such as Microsoft Office
Ability to follow protocols and record laboratory notes and data in an organized fashion.
Maximum of 20hrs/wk
