JOB DESCRIPTION:

Plan and provide therapy to students with mental, physical, or emotional disabilities. Assess students and provide therapeutic intervention to maximize physical or mental functioning, increase independent functioning, and/or adjust to disabilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assess students, interpret results and plan intervention strategies
Develop and implement treatment based on goals of IEP
Provide information and establish relationships with school personnel, parents, and community members
Establish procedures for treatment implementation and participate in the administrative, management, and maintenance of the program
Adhere to established rules, regulations, and laws
Work with school staff to accomplish goals and objectives

EXPERIENCE:

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have completed an approvedand accredited Occupational Therapist program and hold a current license issued by the Virginia Board of Medicine (renewable every two years)
Must hold a certification given by the National Board for Certified Occupational Therapists
Must have strong oral and written communication skills and highly productive time management skills
Must have ability to communicate and coordinate with multiple community agencies
Must have strong understanding of Federal and State laws as applied to education
Must demonstrate commitment to improving professional competence
Experience preferred with coordinating community resources to address child and family needs
