POSITION SUMMARY:
ASSIST THE ACTIVITIES DIRECTOR IN THE DEVELOPMENT, ORGANIZATION AND IMPLEMENTATION OF COMPREHENSIVE THERAPEUTIC RECREATION SERVICES AND PROGRAMS THAT MEET THE NEEDS AND INTERESTS OF EACH RESIDENT. MUST BE A CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT. MEMORY CARE EXPERIENCE A PLUS!
DELEGATION OF AUTHORITY:
AS ACTIVITIES SERVICE ASSISTANT, YOU ARE DELEGATED THE ADMINISTRATIVE AUTHORITY, RESPONSIBILITY, AND ACCOUNTABLILITY NECESSARY FOR CARRYING OUT YUR ASSIGNED DUTIES.
CUSTOMER SERVICE:
DEMONSTRATES THE CORE VALUES OF THE FACILITY WHEN PERFORMING THE ROLE OF THE ACTIVITIES SERVICES ASSISTANT, WITH RESIDENT/PATIENTS, FAMILY MEMEBERS, FACILITY STAF AND MEDICAL STAFF
DISPLAYS FLEXIBILITY, TEAM SPIRIT, COMPASSION, RESPECT, HONESTY, POLITENESS AND ACCOUNTABILITY WHEN DEALING WITH RESIDENTS/PATIENTS, FAMILY MEMBERS AND FACILITY STAFF

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ADMINISTRATIVE FUNCTIONS:
DEVELOP PRELIMINARY AND COMPREHENSIVE ASSESSMENTS OF THE RECREATION SERVICE NEEDS OF EACH RESIDENT/PATIENT.
ENCOURAGE THE RESIDENT/PATIENT/FAMILY TO PARTICIATE IN THE DEVELOPMENT AND REVIEW OF HIS/HER PLAN OF CARE.
ENSURE THAT ALL RECREATION SERVICE PERSONNEL ARE AWARE OF THE CARE PLAN AND THAT CARE PLANS ARE USED N PROVIDING DAILY RECREATION SERVICES TO THE RESIDENT/PATIENT.
DEVELOP AND MAINTAIN A GOOD RAPPORT WITH ALL SERVICES INVOLVED WITH THE CARE PLAN TO ENSURE THAT A TEAM EFFORT IS ACHIEVED IN DEVELOPING A COMPREHENSIVE PLAN OF CARE.
FACILITATE GROUP PROGRAMS AS ASSIGNED IN A TIMELY AND EFFICIENT MANNER.
COMPLETE REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION.
CONTRIBURE TO RESIDENT CARE PLANNING PREPARATION.
ATTEND AND CONTRIBUTE TO ACTIVITIES SERVICES DEPARTMENT MEETINGS.
PROVIDE INDIVIDUAL PROGRAMMING AS ASSIGNED.
MAINTAIN ACTIVITY DEPARTMENT SUPPLIES AND EQUIPMENT.
WORK WITH VOLUNTEERS AS ASSIGNED BY ACTIVITIES SERVICES DIRECTOR/COORDINATOR.
ASSIST WITH PLANNING AND LEADERSHIP SPECIAL EVENTS.
ADHERE TO UNIVERSAL PRECAUTIONS AND SANITARY, SAFETY AND INFECTION CONTROL POLICIES AND PROCEDURES.
STAFF DEVELOPMENT:
ATTEND AND PARTICIPATE IN EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES, IN-SERVICE TRAINING AND STAFF MEETINGS.
ASSIST IN ORIENTATION AND TRAINING OF OTHER STAFF
SAFETY AND SANITATION:
COMPLY WITH ALL COMPANY POLICIES RELATED TO SAFETY AND INFECTION CONTROL PROCEDURES INCLUDING THE PROPER USE OF MECHANICAL LIFTS, GAIT BELTS AND PERSONAL PROTECTION BACK SUPPORTS.
EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLY FUNCTIONS:
RECOMMEND TO THE ACTIVITIES DIRECTOR/COORDINATOR THE EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLY NEEDS OF THE DEPARTMENT.
PLACE OREDRS FOR EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES AS NECESSARY OR AS MAY BE REQUIRED.
MAKE PERIODIC ROUNDS TO CHECK EQUIPMENT AND TO ASSURE THAT NECESSARY EQUIPMENT IS AVAILABLE AND WORKING PROPERLY.
CHECK SUPPLY ROOMS TO ASSURE THAT NEEDED SUPPLIES ARE ON HAND TO PERFORM ASSIGNED CLEANING TASKS.
DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT PROCEDURES THAT ENSURE RECREATION SERVICE SUPPLIES ARE USED IN AN EFFICIENT MANNER TO AVOID WASTE.
QUALITY IMPROVEMENT:
PARTICIPATE IN QUALITY IMPROVEMENT ACTIVITIES AS ASSIGNED.
OTHER DUTIES:
OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED OR NEEDED.
RESIDENT/PATIENT RIGHTS:
UNDERSTAND, COMPLY WITH AND PROMOTE ALL RULES AND REGULATIONS REGARDING RESIDENTS RIGHTS.

MISCELLANEOUS:
MAKE WEEKLY INSPECTIONS OF ALL RECREATION SERVICE FUNCTIONS TO ASSURE THAT QUALITY CONTROL MEASURES ARE CONTINUALLY MAINTAINED.
BE PREPARED TO HANDEL EMEREGENCIES AS THEY COME UP (I.E. RESCHEDULING WORK ASSIGNMENTS AND WORK SCHEDULES, ETC.)
BE SURE THAT APPROPRIATE PROTECTIVE CLOTHING/DEVICES ARE ON HAND FOR HANDLING INFECTIOUS WASTE AND/OR BLOOD/BODY FLUIDS.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS
MUST BE ABLE TO MOVE INTERMITTENTLY THROUGHOUT THE WORKDAY.
MUST BE ABLE TO SPEAK AND WIRTE THE ENGLISH LANDUAGE IN AN UNDERSTANDABLE MANNER.
MUST BE ABLE TO COPE WITH THE MENTAL AND EMOTIONAL STRESS OF THE POSITION.

MUST BE ABLE TO RELATE TO AND WORK WITH THE ILL, DISABLED, ELDERLY, EMOTIONALLY UPSET, AND AT TIMES HOSTILE PEOPLE WITHIN THE FACILITY.
MUST BE ABLE TO PUSH, PULL, MOVE, AND/OR LIFT A MINIMUM OF 30 POUNDS TO A MINIMUM HEIGHT OF WAIST HIGH AND BE ABLE TO PUSH, PULL, MOVE, AND/OR ACARRRY SUCH WEIGHT A MINIMUM DISTANCE OF 20 FEET.
MAY BE NECESSARY TO ASSIST IN THE EVACUATION OF RESIDENTS/PATIENTS DURING EMERGENCY SITUATIONS.

IS SUBJECT TO HOSTILE AND EMOTIONALLY UPSET RESIDENT/PATIENTS, FAMILY MEMBERS, ETC.
WORKS BEYOND NORMAL WORKING HOURS, ON WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS, AND ON OTHER SHIFTS WHEN NECESSARY.
IS SUBJECT TO CALLBACK DURING EMERGENCY CONDITIONS, (E.G., SEVERE WEATHER, EVACULATION, POST-DIASTER, ETC.)
COMMUNICATIONS WITH THE MEDICAL STAFF, NURSING PERSONNEL, AND OTHER DEPARTMENT SUPERVISORS.
IS SUBJECT TO INJURY FROM FALLS, BURNS FROM EQUIPMENT, ODORS, ETC. THROUGHOUT THE WORKDAY, AS WELL AS REACTIONS FROM DUST, DISINFECTNATS, TABACOO SMOKE, AND OTHER AIR CONTAMINANTS.
IS SUBJECT TO EXPOSURE OF INFECTIOUS WASTE, DISEASES, CONDITIONS, ERT, INCLUDING TB AND THE AIDES AND HEPATITIS B VIRUSES.
MAY BE SUBJECT TO THE HANDLING OF AND EXPOSURE OF HAZARDOUS CHEMICALS.
MINIMUM SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:
HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE OR EQUAVALENT WITH KNOWLEDEGE OF THE PRACTICAL APPLICATION OF RECREATION SERVICE PROGRAMS.
MUST MEET STATE/FEDERAL REGULATIONS IF APPLICABLE.
MUST HAVE ABILITY TO READ, WRITE AND FOLLOW ORAL AND WRITTEN DIRECTIONS AT A LEVEL NECESSARY TO ACCOMPLISH THE JOB.
MUST BE ABLE TO RELATE POSITIVELY AND FAVORABLY TO RESIDENS AND FAMILIS AND TO WORK COOPERATIVELY WITH OTHER EMPLOYEES.
MUST MAINTAIN REGULAR ATTENDANCE.
MUST MEET ALL LOCAL HEALTH REGULATIONS, AND PASS POT-EMPLOYMENT PHYSICAL EXAM IF REQUIRED. THIS REQUIREMENT ALSO INCLUDES DRUG SCREENING, CRIMINAL BACKGOUND INVESTIGATION, AND REFERENCE INQUIRY.
MUST BE CAPABLE OF PERFORMING THE ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS OF THIS JOB, WITH OR WITHOUT REASONALBE ACCOMMODATION.
