We are currently looking for an Environmental, Health and Safety Manager who will be primarily based out of our New Berlin location with oversight of all facilities and directly contribute to the success and growth of our employees, as well as our organization as a whole. Recurring travel to our Facility in Delavan, WI will be expected.

Under the guidance of the Director of Quality and EHS, the EHS Manager will play a pivotal role in developing, administering and maintaining facility Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs in accordance with regulatory requirements and corporate policies, standards, procedures, and objectives. This role will foster facility awareness, involvement, and accountability of EHS issues to assure full integration of EHS initiatives with business activities. Direct facility activities to minimize company liability and promote sustainability.

JOB DUTIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Commitment to Safety and Environmental Stewardship. Responsible for developing, maintaining, analyzing, and communicating safety metrics, systems, policies, and procedures that will build and sustain a proactive safety culture within our organization.

Partner with leadership and serve as a subject matter expert (SME) regarding the interpretation of federal, state, and local EHS regulations.

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.

Successfully complete, submit, and maintain all local, state, and federal EHS reporting requirements, including OSHA, EPA, and DNR, for all facilities. Champion EHS certifications, including reports, internal audits, programs, and liaise with external auditors.

Partner with various departments to complete annual sustainability reports and provide metrics for customer report requests.

Conduct accident investigations for all near misses, accidents and property damage and provide recommendations to prevent reoccurrence.

Analyze safety metrics and review weekly and monthly incident trends to discover trends to justify the allocation of appropriate resources to areas where the safety risk is highest. Provide information to top management on accidents, causes, and costs and recommends long-range accident reduction and cost containment objectives.

Prepare, maintain, assure timely submittal of all regulatory reporting including OSHA 300 log and injury records, Tier II Reporting, Air Quality and Biennial Reports and other environmental reports identified, as necessary.

Partner with plant management, members, outside medical providers, and insurance carriers to aggressively manage the workers compensation program.

Inspect facilities, machinery, equipment, and personnel practices to identify potential safety and health concerns and hazards.

Chair Environmental & Safety Committee meetings at our facilities in New Berlin and Delavan to welcome the involvement of every member to eliminate workplace hazards and environmental concerns.

Outline safety expectations for new hires by participating in the safety portion of new hire orientation

Oversees the development and implementation of effective industrial hygiene programs.

Act as the Company representative in dealing with government agencies on safety and health matters affecting the Company.

Train members and management in safe practices including Hazardous Communications, bloodborne pathogens, lock-out/tag-out, forklift operation, fire protection, and safe lifting.

Coordinate monthly and annual inspections of facilities, fire extinguishers, cranes, sprinkler systems and others as required.

Lead EHS audits and inspections developing remediation plans as needed.

Develop strategic Safety and Environmental planning for Company operations.

Source vendors relating to Worker’s Compensation insurance, safety supplies, events, etc.

Lead a continuous improvement initiative regarding EHS policies and programs.

Lead safety program initiatives to promote and enhance our safe workplace and the well-being of our members.

Audit and monitor waste disposal reduction and elimination practices.

Provide Emergency Safety support for our 24/7 manufacturing operations.

Compliance to GMP, Food Safety, and Food Quality regulations as required by the company, customers, and/or government agencies.

Qualifications

Bachelors Degree in Occupational Safety, engineering, or related field.

Five (5) years to Ten (10) years of hands-on experience in a safety related field required. Strong experience in a safety related field within a manufacturing environment preferred.

Proven experience as an Environmental, Health & Safety professional.

Knowledge of safety and health and environmental codes and regulations required.

Experience with regulatory audits and compliance.

Ability to effectively organize, coordinate and execute departmental rules and regulations.

Ability to develop and execute strategic plans to meet departmental and organizational goals while complying with regulatory and customer requirements.

Ability to train in all areas of safety and health.

Computer skills: Proficiency with word-processing and spreadsheet applications required (MS Word & Excel preferred).

Strong organizational skills required.

Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
