Athletic Trainer – Physician Extender

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Stoughton Health has a great opportunity for an
Athletic Trainer – Physician Extender in our Orthopedic Clinic. This is
an experienced athletic training position with responsibilities in
Stoughton Health and the Orthopedic Clinics (In Stoughton and in
Madison). The Athletic trainer would communicate with the physician and
medical team to help determine the need for special tests or services.
This position requires that the candidate possess the clinical
evaluation and educational skills expected of an Athletic Trainer. The
candidate will provide athletic training services for Stoughton Health
and the Orthopedic Clinics under the direction of a designated
physician. Position Duties: Provide appropriate evaluations Obtain the
medical history of each patient seen Physical examination of each
patient seen (Range of motion, strength, sensation testing etc.)
Ordering of diagnostic studies or other referrals under the direction of
the physician Educating the patient on treatment plans, surgery,
rehabilitation and follow up care Providing initial rehabilitation
exercises Orthotic fittings Wound care Injection Preparations
Document/Scribe all medical interactions with patients Licensure and/or
Certification Requirements: Licensed as an Athletic Trainer in the State
of Wisconsin or eligible for licensing Current BLS certification
Education Required: Bachelors Degree from an accredited school with a
degree as an Athletic Trainer Experience Required: Orthopedic clinic
experience, preferably as a physician extender Knowledge, and Skills
Required: Basic Computer competency skills are expected for this
position Beginner Skills in Microsoft Office Educational Skills expected
of an Athletic Trainer Full Time – 36 hours per week, Monday – Friday,
7:30am – 4:30pm, Times can vary – can discuss at the time of interview

QUALIFICATIONS: Qualifications include: High school Graduate or
Equivalent. Successful completion of a Medical Assistant Vocational
Training Program or equivalent relevant work experience in lieu of
education. Requires previous experience in a healthcare setting. Prefer
prior experience in a clinic setting. Prefer licensure as a Certified
Medical Assistant, however its not required. Must have current BLS
certification and Non-violent crisis intervention training is required
every two years on a rolling calendar. Basic Computer competency skills
