CITY OF VERONA-POLICE DEPARTMENT

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Are you looking for an agency where you can develop

Police Department has two vacancies in its uniformed patrol staff at the
rank of Patrol Officer. These positions are assigned to Field
Operations, and are responsible for preventative patrol, traffic
enforcement, emergency and non-emergency calls for service, and
investigations concerning criminal matters. The department is a full
service, 24-hour police agency, which embraces community oriented
policing and neighborhood problem-solving. Specialized functions within
the department include, but are not limited to, the K9 unit, drone
program, bike patrol (including eBikes), firearms instructor, evidence
technician, detective, emergency vehicle operations instructor, defense
and arrest tactics instructor, field training officer, community service
officer, and crowd control team. Qualifications to Apply: United States
citizen; 18 years of age; high school graduate or the equivalent;
possess a valid Wisconsin drivers license; binocular vision
correctable to 20/20; no color blindness; no criminal record which
substantially relates to the work of a police officer; good physical and
mental health; weight reasonably related to height; and 20 fully
accredited college credits. Additionally, must possess the skills,
knowledge and abilities to perform the essential functions of a law
enforcement officer, use of standard police equipment, perform all
police use-of-force techniques and verbal and written communications. he
selection process includes, but is not limited to; assessment day,
strength and agility test, medical examination, character background
investigation, psychological examination and drug testing. A
probationary period of 18 months is required. IMPORTANT DATES TO NOTE:
Application Deadline: Monday, November 18, 2024 at 8:00 a.m. Assessment
Day: November 21, 2024 Assessment Day will be held on Thursday,
November 21, 2024, unless there is a greater number of qualfied
applicants that requires two days of Assessments, in which case a second
day (Wednesday, November 20, 2024) will be scheduled as well.
Assessments for each candidate are two hours and start times will be
scheduled individually with each candidate. Candidates must successfully
complete Assessment Day to advance. Police and Fire Commission (PFC)
Interviews: Tuesday, November 26, 2024; Interviews will be in the
evening and will be scheduled individually with each candidate.
Candidates must successfully complete this interview and be certified by
the PFC to advance. Anticipated Hire Date: January 6, 2025 This
anticipated hire date is for candidate who have not yet been certified.
One week of orientation training would begin January 6, 2025, followed
by a paid sponsorship for the Police Academy, which begins January 13,
2025. Candidates who are already certified law enforcment officers may
begin employment prior to January 6, 2025. Lateral tranfer candidates
are eligible to receive a $4,500 bonus if hired in 2024.
OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Qualifications to Apply: United

$4,500 bonus for lateral recruitments hired in 2024! Accelerated hiring
process! Competitive salary and benefits package – Chief shall have the
discretion to start a newly hire employee at any step commensurate with
the officers prior experience: one (1) year of seniority, three (3)
years of seniority, five (5) years of seniority, and seven (7) years of
seniority. Qualified lateral transfers will also receive up to two weeks
