This position processes and maintains the Department of Public Safety
policy and procedure manual to ensure alignment with federal and state
law, and KLEAP standards. Additionally, the position researches changes
in various laws, procedures, regulations and KLEAP standards as they
become effective to ensure timely compliance. The position also assists
with Department of Public Safety historical records management, as well
as property and evidence room maintenance to ensure all functions of the
Department of Safety are in compliance with KLEAP standards and that
accreditation is perpetually maintained.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:
– Oversees the accreditation process, including assessments, and
maintains digital records.
– Collects proofs of compliance and ensures alignment with standards.
– Oversees and ensures policy and procedures adhere to standards.
– Manages a digital platform to ensure standards, policies and
procedures are readily available to all staff members.
– Advises on standards updates.
– Prepares recurrent reports.
– Attends periodic training and conferences.
– Evaluates and reports the efficiency and effectiveness of the
accreditation program.
– Coordinates with leadership to provide advice and resources to
implement improvements.
– Serves as the organizations liaison for accreditation and
regulatory matters.
– Provides assistance and information to Department members regarding
policies and procedures as required.
– Types/word processes policy and procedure documents and
administrative reports.
REQUIREMENTS OF WORK:
– Ability to develop a working knowledge of the policies and
procedures, and rules and regulations, of the City and the
Department of Public Safety.
– Ability to learn and utilize various computer software programs.
– Perform basic clerical work with speed and accuracy.
– Ability to operate standard office equipment/machines such as a
copier, word-processor, typewriter, calculator, computer, and phone
as required by assignment.
– Maintain a variety of records and files.
– Understand and follow both oral and written instructions.
– Ability to proof work for accuracy.
– Must have the ability to effectively plan and organize work.
– Must be a self-starter, highly motivated, and committed to
accomplishing tasks.
– Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with
associates, employees of other Departments, and representatives of
outside agencies.
– An employee shall not pose a direct threat to the health or safety
of other individuals in the workplace.
