Maintains and operates a wide variety of equipment used in the support
and operation of County construction projects. Participates in snow and
ice removal operations.
Operates heavy equipment with a high level of proficiency
– Operate motor graders, bulldozers, front-end loaders, backhoes,
pneumatic rollers, excavator, and other similar equipment
– Operate specialized equipment associated with construction, repair,
and maintenance of County infrastructure
– Operate equipment for clearing right of way, trenching, and back
filling
– Operate asphalt equipment in road construction, repair, and
maintenance
– Perform ditch grade leveling operations
– Perform preventative maintenance, and make minor repairs to assigned
equipment
– Perform manual work associated with equipment operations
Construction, repair, and maintenance of County infrastructure
– Load and place sand, earth, rock, asphalt, and other road
construction material
– Complete maintenance, repair, and replacement of work zone and basic
roadway signage
– Set up work zones for road construction projects
– Wear PPE and follows local, state and federal safety regulations
– Occasionally plan, directs and supervise the work of a small crew
Participate in snow and ice removal operations
– Operate a dump truck with blade and spreader to clear roads of snow
and ice
– Operate loader to load material for snow & ice removal
– Operate a motor grader for snow and ice removal
– Maintain equipment in good condition
– Ensure equipment is cleaned, fueled, and loaded for follow on shift
– Report problems immediately to shift supervisor
– Fill in for shift supervisor when necessary
Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent; Two years of
experience operating medium to heavy equipment. Valid Commercial Drivers
License Class A w/air brakes & tanker endorsements.
Preferred Qualifications: Two years of experience in road construction.
