Position Summary:
Preparation of individual and small business tax returns, as well as
payroll and sales tax reports. The position requires preparation of
standard accounting work papers and financial statements. Candidate is
teachable and has high work standards. Opportunity for advancement.
Background check is required.
Required Experience and Education:
– Bachelors degree (or greater) in accounting
– On course to sit for CPA exam
Summary of Tax Preparers Major Duties and Responsibilities:
– Responsible for organizing accurate client tax records and preparing
simple to complex individual and small business tax returns;
previous use of ProSystem fx Tax is a plus
– Preparation of payroll, sales tax, and 1099 reports and forms;
– Maintain in-depth knowledge and appropriate application of current
accounting rules and applicable federal, state and local tax laws to
determine accurate income, deductions, and tax credits
– Recognize complex technical issues, reaches appropriate conclusions,
and applies authoritative sources to support conclusions
– Anticipate problem areas and questions that will arise during the
course of a project
– Ensure top quality client service at all times
– Demonstrate effective time management and ability to multitask
– Comply with all firm policies and procedures
– Maintain client confidentiality at all times
– Maintain accurate time and expense records to ensure proper client
billing
– Other duties as assigned
Desired Skills, Abilities and Characteristics:
– Prior experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; and
Quickbooks
– Professional and mature attitude, exhibiting integrity, energy,
enthusiasm, dedication, and commitment
– Effectively communicate through oral and written means
– Excellent organizational skills and professionalism and the ability
to work well with others
– Aptitude to learn and effectively use multiple software applications
Working Conditions:
Office hours (minimum expectation):
– Mid-April through December 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through
Friday. Regular 40-hour work weeks.
– January through mid-April minimum: 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday
through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Friday; and 8:00 a.m. to
noon Saturday. Typically, 50- to 60- hour work weeks. Time off
during this period is limited to necessary requests.
– Additional hours may be required as deadlines approach.
