Summary Reclamation is seeking a career professional looking for an opportunity to capitalize on their expertise as a Environmental Protection Specialist. You can make a difference in the West by assisting in meeting increasing water demands while protecting the environment. Duty Location: Glendale, Arizona Responsibilities Develops and implements procedures to comply with historic preservation legislation, executive orders, regulations, and Reclamation policy. Makes evaluations and judgments on the significance of historic and archeological properties, as well as the effects of construction, planning, and operations and maintenance activities on such properties. Makes determinations of National Register eligibility and effect based on application of the Criteria for Evaluation and Secretary of the Interior Standards and Guidelines. Works closely with the Contracting Officer as the Contracting Officers Representative (COR) in the development, negotiation, and monitoring of contracts used in assisting and executing the cultural resource program. Consults with State and Tribal Historic Preservation Officers and the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation in seeking resolution of adverse effects and assists Area Offices in these activities. Prepares the required documentation and correspondence for compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and other pertinent Federal directives. Prepares reports documenting archeological and historic compliance with Federal cultural resource directives. Writes or reviews cultural, paleontological, or museum property sections of National Environmental Policy Act or planning documents, serves as subject matter expert in determining what services or supplies are needed to meet cultural, paleontological, and museum property program objectives. Qualifications In order to be rated as qualified for this position, the HR Office must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement – this information must be clearly supported in the resume. GS-12: To qualify at the GS-12, you must possess one year of full-time specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-11 level in federal service having demonstrated experience. GS-12 Specialized Experience: Specialized Experience is defined as experience in technical, legal and policy compliance with cultural resource and Indian laws and regulations; in particular, sections 106 and 110 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA). You must meet all Eligibility and Qualification requirements, including time-in-grade restrictions and any selective placement factors if applicable, by 10/28/2024. Education This position does not allow substituting education for experience. Additional Information Probationary Period: You may be required to serve an initial probationary period.
