Summary About the position: This position will be assigned to the Hillberg Ski Area. This is a Flexible position not to exceed 30-APR-2025. Flexible employees have work schedules that depend on the needs of the activity. You may work a minimum of zero to a maximum of 40 hours per week. Flexible employees may be subjected to “on call” work in addition to hours posted on the schedule. . Responsibilities Identifies dangerous areas and takes corrective action on ski slopes and areas around Hillberg Lodge. Skis all slopes and reports on snow conditions. Instructs developing volunteer ski patrol or others in objectives and techniques used for ski patrol operations. Recommends action according to condition of slopes. Responds to accidents or other traumatic incidents, attends the injured, ascertains nature of injuries and extends appropriate first aid procedures, or assists with procedures already in progress. Escorts, evacuates, or assists with evacuation of patients to ambulance, field station, or hospital by most expeditious mode of transportation.Continues first aid procedures in transit, as necessary, until relieved by other competent personnel. Extends first aid training to other personnel and/or instruct in the techniques for managing injuries. Will document all injuries and accidents on proper accident report forms. Observe the lift stations to make sure that they are operating under ski area policies regarding safety. Operates chair lift, t-bar, and rope tows as needed. Observes weather to determine current and short range wind chill factors, ascertain if within range to permit safe skiing. Keeps manager informed of marginal or dangerous conditions on a continuing basis. Enforces customer violator penalties under current procedures and protocols. Performs other duties as assigned. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Working experience or knowledge of the recreational activities and equipment, rules and procedures as relating to ski activities. Must be a skilled skier and hold a CPR/AED certification or must obtain a CPR/AED certification within 90 days of hire. Must have a medical certification or have a minimum qualification of Basic First Aid. Must have ability to communicate both orally and in writing. Must possess skill in dealing with the public. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI). Must possess a valid drivers license and provide a copy of driving record. This is a drug testing designated position. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. Additional Information Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation.
